NEW YORK (AP) — In another sign that the world of entertainment is returning to pre-pandemic normal, Broadway theaters will no longer demand audiences wear masks starting in July.

The Broadway League announced Tuesday that mask-wearing will be optional next month onward, a further loosening of restrictions. In May, most Broadway theaters lifted the requirement that audience members provide proof of vaccination to enter venues.

The latest policy will “be evaluated on a monthly basis as we continue to monitor the science,” according to a statement by the League, which represents Broadway producers. It also said that “audience members are still encouraged to wear masks in theaters.” Producers have long complained that ticket sales may be depressed due to the mask ban.

Actors’ Equity Association, which represents 51,000 stage actors and stage managers, did have a reaction to the change.

Broadway theaters drop their mask mandate starting in July

ATLANTA (AP) — Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality television show “Chrisley Knows Best,” have been found guilty in Atlanta on federal charges including bank fraud and tax evasion. 

The Chrisleys were initially indicted in August 2019, and the trial began three weeks ago. 

The U.S. attorney's office in Atlanta said a jury found the pair guilty of all charges Tuesday. 

Prosecutors say the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best” submitted false documents to banks to get loans and failed to pay federal income taxes for multiple years. 

An accountant who worked for them also was found guilty. Sentencing for all three is set for Oct. 6.

LONDON (AP) — British singer-songerwriter Ed Sheeran has announced the birth of his second daughter, saying he and his wife, Cherry Seaborn were “over the moon’’ at the arrival. 

The 31-year-old Grammy award-winner posted a picture of baby socks on his Instagram site. 

“We are both so in love with her,” Sheeran said in the post, without giving the child’s name. 

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, in August 2020. 

Despite being in the spotlight for his music, Sheeran has remained private about his relationship with Seaborn.

Turner Classic Movies and Julien’s Auctions are teaming up to auction off items like Captain America’s shield from “Captain America: The First Avenger,” a two-piece Givenchy ensemble worn by Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and Jules Winnfield’s wallet from “Pulp Fiction.” 

The hammer used by Chris Hemsworth in “Thor: The Dark World'' is also included.

Knopf announced Tuesday that the book, first signed up in 2015 but not officially disclosed at the time, will be called “Surrender.” Reports that the signer-activist had a deal date back to at least 2019. 

The book’s subtitle is “40 Songs, One Story,” a reference to the structure of “Surrender”: 40 chapters, each named for a U2 song. 

The band’s many hits include “With Or Without You,” “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Where the Streets Have No Name.”

The new Dylan center is opening steps away from a museum that honors Woody Guthrie, one of the Nobel laureate's musical heroes and influences. 

Dylan may not be one for looking back, but he saved enough handwritten lyrics, photos, rare recordings and other artifacts to support a facility with more than 100,000 items. 

It includes one new Dylan piece of art: a metal sculpture designed and built by the man himself.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County prosecutors say the man who tackled comedian Dave Chappelle during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl will not be charged with any felonies. 

The district attorney's office said Thursday that 23-year-old Isaiah Lee clearly engaged in criminal conduct, but it did not rise to the level of felony conduct. 

The case was referred to the city attorney, who prosecutes misdemeanors in Los Angeles. 

Police say Lee rushed the stage and tackled Chappelle on Tuesday night, and had a replica handgun with a blade inside.

It was not immediately known if Lee had retained a lawyer. A possible motive is unclear. Chappelle continued with his performance.
