Margaret Ann “Meg” Kirkland, 76, of North Platte, passed away on May 20, 2025, surrounded by her family at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln. She was born February 24, 1949, in Norfolk, NE to John and Mabel (Zwingman) Wirges of Petersburg, NE.

Meg graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in Petersburg with the class of 1967 and the Grand Island School of Business in Grand Island in March 1968 with a Secretarial Degree. Upon graduation, she started working at Hansen Employment &amp; Counseling Service as a secretary and later worked at Grand Island United Way as a secretary and bookkeeper.

Meg married Kraig Kirkland of Grand Island on July 20, 1974, in Petersburg. They had three children: Clint, Debra, and Amy. The couple resided in Grand Island until he was transferred to North Platte in 1976 with the Union Pacific Railroad. She was a stay-at-home mother for several years and then attended Mid-Plains Community College and started working as a bookkeeper for Kelley, Scritsmier &amp; Byrne Law firm. Meg retired in 2009 and worked for them occasionally on an “as needed” basis for several years after.

While the children were in school, she was very active in Parent Teacher Associations and High School Booster Club, holding leadership positions in both organizations. Meg received a lifetime membership in Nebraska Parent Teacher Association. She helped with various school activities including field trips and was also a co-leader for two 4H clubs.

Meg was on the Miss Nebraska State Board of Directors and a member of North Platte RSVP and enjoyed volunteering at Great Plains Health where she started helping at the information desk and then transferred to the gift shop. She bowled on at least five different leagues during her bowling years and served as Association Manager since 2019.

Meg was always knitting and working on some project, whether that be the many sets of baby washcloths that she gifted, the pocket prayer cloths for hospital residents, or afghans for her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel, cruising both the Western and Eastern Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, and Mexico. In 2022, Meg traveled to Ireland to watch her home state Huskers play football.

Those that precede Meg in death are her husband, Kraig; her parents; and brothers-in-law, Ken Kirkland and Jerry Stoltenberg.

Meg is survived by her children, Clint of Lincoln, Debra (Eric) Houser of Kearney, and Amy (Brandon) Dorenbach of Lincoln; four grandsons, Austin (Bailee) Houser of Gibbon, Tanner Houser of Kearney, Jackson and Easton Dorenbach of Lincoln; great grandson, Connor Houser; brother, Larry (Joanie) Wirges of Petersburg; brothers-in-law, Karl Kirkland, Kevin (Helen) Kirkland, Kohl (Amanda) Kirkland; sisters-in-law, Kalene (Maurice) Sherffius, Kim (Ron) McBride, Karen (Todd) Rohweder, Lisa Kirkland; several nieces, nephews, and other family.

Margaret Kirkland (1949-2025)

Michael Wayne “Mike” Fletcher, 57, of Maxwell passed away in an accident May 21, 2025 at his home. He was born February 14, 1968 to Don and Rose (Feeney) Fletcher in North Platte.

Mike graduated from Maxwell High School with the class of 1986. He attended college and played football at Chadron State where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business.

Mike was united in marriage to Annette Derra on July 31, 1987 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The couple first met when they were babies in the nursery, as they were both born at North Platte hospital two days apart. Their lives were destined to cross as they later became high school sweethearts. They lived in the Maxwell area for many years where they built their dream home next to the family farm and raised their three boys.

Mike hired on with Union Pacific Railroad April 20, 1990, and worked as a Locomotive Engineer alongside his brother Mitch. He retired December 1, 2022. Over his 32 years at UPRR Mike made many lifelong friends.

In addition to working for Union Pacific Mike pursued his passion for farming and ranching. He and his brother Morgan took over the family farm from their father Don and In 2013 M&amp;M land and cattle was born.

Everything Mike did was “full throttle”. He had a love for everybody and his home was open to everyone; Mike knew no strangers. Mike will be remembered as the life of the party. Mike loved to host Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Husker games. Mike loved cooking for his friends and family and hosting parties. Mike always helped anyone with their projects and was known as a “redneck engineer”.&nbsp; He loved a good auction and couldn’t pass by a deal. He enjoyed making homemade spirits, including his famous homemade wine (LeggSpredda). Mike loved playing sports and watching sports. He was always front row at his kids and grandkids’ activities. Family was the center of his life and he was immensely proud of his sons, loved his daughters-in-law, and would drop everything for his beloved grand kids. Not to mention his nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Mike was an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving and any outdoor activities. Mike taught his own sons to hunt and fish and was continuing the tradition with his grandkids. Mike will be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and above all a friend.

Survivors include wife, Annette of Maxwell; sons, Cody (Marci) Fletcher of Maxwell, Austin Fletcher of Gothenburg, Brandon (Madeline) Fletcher of Maxwell; grandchildren, Camden Fletcher, Eden Fletcher, and Calvert ‘Michael’ Fletcher; mother, Rose Fletcher of Maxwell; in-laws, Larry and Diane Derra of North Platte, Mike and Patti Earl of North Platte; siblings, Mitch (Karolyn) Fletcher of Maxwell, Morgan (Jen) Fletcher of Maxwell, Murray (Michaela) Fletcher of Elmwood; sisters-in-law, Missy (Wade) Koenen of Sedgwick, CO and Tiffany (Scott) LeTourneau of North Platte; and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Deloras Rae “Dee” Cooper, 82, of North Platte passed away May 17, 2025 at Linden Court. She was born April 7, 1943 to William and Vivian (Downing) Kautz in North Platte.

Dee grew up in Hershey and graduated from Hershey High School with the class of 1961. She attended Parks Business School in Denver, Colorado in 1962. She won the title of Miss Congeniality in the Miss NP Pageant.

Dee married Clayton Cooper on January 20, 1963 at First Methodist Church in Hershey. She worked for Les Satterfield Law office in North Platte where the couple lived until they moved to Denver for a few years. They moved back to North Platte in 1974 where they owned and operated Daylight Donuts until 1995. The building was turned into Looks Unlimited Hair Salon and was then sold in 2003 when Dee retired. Clay and Dee spent the winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Dee belonged to North Platte Berean Church. She enjoyed gambling at Rosebud and Blackhawk Casinos and gardening and growing flowers. She loved spending time with family and friends and was always the center of their activities. Dee showed her love by offering food and sitting down for a friendly chat making you feel very comfortable.

Survivors include children, Angie (Brent) Barker, Ben (Landy) Cooper of North Platte; grandchildren, Brittany (Jared) Thomsen of North Platte, Kinzey Cooper of North Platte, Brayden (Josie) Barker of North Platte, Kaden (fiancé Elli Prince) of Kearney; great grandchildren, Ty Kindig, Brynlee Thomsen, Paisley Barker; sister, Sharron Meston of North Platte; brother, Bill (Pam) Kautz of North Platte; numerous other family members and many friends.

Henry LeRoy "Hank" Meuhlenkamp passed away at his home in North Platte, NE on January 30, 2025 at the age of 85.

Hank, son of John and Clara, was born on June 3, 1939 in Burns, WY and grew up in North Platte, NE.&nbsp; He attended Platte Valley School (riding his horse) then went to high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, NE.&nbsp; By the time he was 26, Hank hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked until retiring.

On November 13, 1961, Hank married Joetta Cunningham at Kearney, NE and they lived in North Platte.&nbsp; They were married for nearly 40 years when Joetta passed away.&nbsp; He later married Kathy Trosper and she passed away in 2022.

Hank loved to do wood working, fish and hunt, and hunted up to his last days.

He is survived by his children, Russell Muehlenkamp (Bobbi) of North Platte, NE, Kathleen Kramer (Jim) of Yakima, WA, Caroline Luse of Sioux City, IA, and Cynthia VanderMeer (Peter) of Ellinwood, KS; many grandkids, great-grandkids, and extended family.

Hank was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Antone, and Nick; and his sisters, Katherine Mason (Bob), Clara Vencill (Fred), and Marcella Hille (Don).

Henry LeRoy "Hank" Muehlenkamp  (1939-2025)

June Ellen Crofutt, age 96 of Keystone, NE, died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE

June Ellen Crofutt was born June 29, 1928, in Keystone, at the home of her parents, August Henry Blomenkamp and Marie Julia (Irwin) Blomenkamp.

June attended grade school at Liberty Knoll Rural School near her home. She was a member of the last graduating class at Keystone High School in 1945. After graduation, she attended a 16-week Teacher Education Training at Kearney.

She taught for one semester in rural Keith County before accepting a teaching position at Ted McGinley's Red Deer Ranch near Valentine. It was there that she met her best friend and true love, Paul Crofutt. Paul and June eloped and were married at Scottsbluff&nbsp;in 1946. Their friendship and partnership continued for 74 years.

Their first home was on the Ralph Hawkins ranch at Keystone. In 1949, they moved to Keystone, where they operated the Central Office of the Keystone Arthur Telephone Company. The switchboard was in their home and open for business twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. They operated it for four years.

During this time, the young couple purchased their first land, a quarter section northwest of Keystone known as the "Hans Thompson place." They moved to the farm in 1952 with two small children to a two-room house, so a building project was in order. The first addition was completed with the addition of two more children. More buildings were necessary to accommodate a fifth.

Paul and June purchased the "Berquist" place in 1961 and moved to a much larger house there. Paul and June farmed and ranched north of Keystone for 60+ years. They raised 5 children and always had room for a few more.

June was the Postmaster in Keystone for many years, retiring in 1991.

In 2003, June and Paul sold part of the place to Ron and Lea Ann Graham, which allowed them to return to their original land purchase to enjoy their retirement.

June was active in her community, a longtime member of the Keystone Library Club and Key Club, a leader of 4-H, Ladies Aid, and the Historical Society. She was a member of the Keystone Presbyterian Church and was ordained as an Elder.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23rd,2025, at 10:00 AM, at the Presbyterian Church in Keystone, NE, with Ron Jay Officiating.

After the service, the family invites you to stay for a picnic at June's request. Bring your lawn chairs, a dish is optional but not necessary.

She is survived by her children, Paula Crofutt (Thom Barkes) of Port Townsend, WA, Sally Crofutt (Larry Green) of Bayside, TX, Larry Crofutt of Bayside, TX, and Mary Lou Crofutt (David Peterson) of Keystone; daughters in law, Rosalee Crofutt and Marcia Crofutt; sister Virginia (Don) Dedmore of Prescott, AZ; grandchildren, Kevin, Jesse, Ross, and Walt Crofutt, Joellen (Ben) Clark, Hillary Green (Sunjay Lal), and Kelly Sue O'Brien (Matt Reichert); and great granddaughter Avy Clark.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, son Wayne Crofutt, son-in-law Jimmy O'Brien, and sisters Judy Peterson and Nancy Hultquist.

 </figure>June Ellen Crofutt, age 96 of Keystone, NE, died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NEJune Ellen Crofutt was born June 29, 1928, in Keystone, at the home of her parents, August Henry Blomenkamp and Marie Julia (Irwin) Blomenkamp.June attended grade school at Liberty Knoll Rural School near her home. She was a member of the last graduating class at Keystone High School in 1945. After graduation, she attended a 16-week Teacher Education Training at Kearney.She taught for one semester in rural Keith County before accepting a teaching position at Ted McGinley's Red Deer Ranch near Valentine. It was there that she met her best friend and true love, Paul Crofutt. Paul and June eloped and were married at Scottsbluff&nbsp;in 1946. Their friendship and partnership continued for 74 years.Their first home was on the Ralph Hawkins ranch at Keystone. In 1949, they moved to Keystone, where they operated the Central Office of the Keystone Arthur Telephone Company. The switchboard was in their home and open for business twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. They operated it for four years.During this time, the young couple purchased their first land, a quarter section northwest of Keystone known as the "Hans Thompson place." They moved to the farm in 1952 with two small children to a two-room house, so a building project was in order. The first addition was completed with the addition of two more children. More buildings were necessary to accommodate a fifth.Paul and June purchased the "Berquist" place in 1961 and moved to a much larger house there. Paul and June farmed and ranched north of Keystone for 60+ years. They raised 5 children and always had room for a few more.June was the Postmaster in Keystone for many years, retiring in 1991.In 2003, June and Paul sold part of the place to Ron and Lea Ann Graham, which allowed them to return to their original land purchase to enjoy their retirement.June was active in her community, a longtime member of the Keystone Library Club and Key Club, a leader of 4-H, Ladies Aid, and the Historical Society. She was a member of the Keystone Presbyterian Church and was ordained as an Elder.A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23rd,2025, at 10:00 AM, at the Presbyterian Church in Keystone, NE, with Ron Jay Officiating.After the service, the family invites you to stay for a picnic at June's request. June Crofutt (1928-2025)

Gene K. Lunkwitz was born on September 16, 1943 in North
Platte, Nebraska to Joney and Mildred Lunkwitz. Gene departed this world on
April 16, 2025 with family by his side. Gene was the youngest of 5 children:
Lawrence, Floyd, Dorothy and Sonja.

Gene met the love of his life, Lois Carlson, in North Platte
in January of 1962. They fell in love immediately that day. But they wouldn’t
see each other again for another year. They started dating in 1963 and were
married later that year. They had 4 children from their union. The first of the
children were twins. The oldest is Gaylene Lunkwitz, then came Jenene (Howard)
Schrader, next came Cherylene Lunkwitz, and finally their son Leonard (Lucrecia)
Lunkwitz. Gene’s greatest pride and joy in life was his wife, 4 kids, 12
grandkids, and 30 great-grandkids, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad’s favorite day would be April Fool’s Day. He treated
every day the same. He loved to tease and joke with everyone.

Gene was a hard worker for his family. He drove a truck for
IML for years. He also worked for Paxton Feed and Fertilizer for many years.
Gene joined the U.S. National Guard in 1963 for a few years. Gene was an animal
lover. He loved horses, he had a horse named Pete that he had a special bond
to. He had many dogs that were always by his side. For a time, he did break
horses and his kids to ride horses. Gene Loved to go hunting with family and
his love, Lois. 

After retirement, Gene loved to sit outside with Lois and
family. Lots of deer and rabbits would come up to the house.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (2023), his
daughter Jenene (2022), and son-in-law Howard Schrader (2024). His life with
Lois was so special to him. They loved each other so much.

Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will take
place Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Methodist Church in Paxton, Nebraska.
There will be gathering immediately following services at the Windy Gap in
Paxton.

&nbsp;Joyce Kohn peacefully passed away at Linden Court on May 4, 2025, with her family at her side.

Joyce was born September 12, 1951, to Delores and Norman Stearns in North Platte, NE, where she resided all her life.&nbsp; She graduated with the Class of 1969 then married a few years later.

On January 31, 1971, Joyce wed Gary Kohn.&nbsp; They had two sons, Chadd and Bryan, and enjoyed over 54 years of marriage.&nbsp; She worked at McDonald Elementary School for over 30 years and was school librarian for many years. 

Joyce was strong willed, knew what she wanted (and got it!) and was extremely organized.&nbsp; She was a BIG Husker football fan, but the most rewarding thing in life was being "Grandma" to Langdon, Dalaney and Gracen.

We hate to see her go, but it was her time and she took our love with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dave Stearns; and brother-in-law, Ron Bunde. Joyce is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Chadd and Bryan; all three of her favorite grandchildren; her sisters, Karen Conn (Don), Debbie Patrick (Vaughn) and Donna Moore (Leonard); sisters-in-law, Diane Bunde, Karen Stearns; brother-in-law, Ron Kohn (Michelle); and many nieces, nephews and other family.

A gathering of family and friends will be 1-3 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at the Moose Lodge, and of course, wear your Husker Red!

Joyce Kohn (1951-2025)

Barbara (Myers) Krajewski, age 77, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at her home in Paxton, NE.

Barbara Helen Myers was born in North Platte, NE, on December 8, 1947.&nbsp; Raised on the Myers farm in Paxton, Barb attended the town’s one-room schoolhouse until transferring to Roscoe, then eventually Ogallala, where she graduated high school in 1966.&nbsp; She attended college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and Florida State University.&nbsp; Marrying Richard Barnica, Barb became a mother to her two children, Scott and Alison.&nbsp; While raising her kids in Tallahassee, Florida, Barb was a distinguished member of WFSU Television and an awarded employee of Florida State University.&nbsp;

In 1994, Barb returned to the place she truly considered home, the Myers Family Farm.&nbsp; She became immediately involved in the community and later found GracePoint Church.&nbsp; Barb cherished her church and its members who welcomed her warmly.&nbsp; Activities/hobbies included, cooking/baking, gardening, playing piano and organ, singing in the choir, volunteering at church, teaching country-western dance lessons, hosting themed dinners, volunteering at the Game and Parks Visitors Center and Optimist Club, assisting with state Torch Runs, coordinating local events like the Great American Cattle Drive, all while guided by her faith.&nbsp; Barb held a rewarding role at the Ogallala Women’s Resource Center from 2007-2011.&nbsp; She was awarded the Good Neighbor Award in 2011 by The Ogallala Ministerial Alliance.&nbsp; She loved her role as curator for the Petrified Wood Gallery.

Drawn together by their faith in the Lord, Barb and Toney met and were married in 1997 by Pastor Curtis Tschetter, who remains pastor at GracePoint today.&nbsp; Through Toney, Barb gained three bonus children, TJ, Nicole, and Melissa.&nbsp; Together they enjoyed 28 years of marriage.

Barb was at home, surrounded by loved ones, when she went to her Savior on April 22, 2025.&nbsp; Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Alveda Myers.&nbsp; She is survived by husband Toney Krajewski, son Scott Barnica (Susan) of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Alison (Jeff) Stoker of Allen, TX, step-children T.J. (Meghan) Krajewski of Scottsbluff, NE, Nicole Krajewski of Nebraska City, NE, Melissa “Missy” Krajewski of Nebraska City, NE, grandsons Dalton Cervantes and Drake (Marisa) Barnica, granddaughter Emily Lawler, brother Warren (Melissa) Myers and sister Mary (Jim) Ardissono, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, May 17, 2025, 10:30 A.M. in GracePoint Church with Pastor Curtis Tshetter officiating.

Inurnment will be Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the Ogallala Cemetery in Ogallala, NE.

Barbara (Myers) Krajewski (1947-2025)

&nbsp; Camille Roberta Weesner, age 88, peacefully passed away at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE, on May 1, 2025.

Camille was born January 4, 1937, to Sydney and Agnes Goodfellow at Rushville, NE.&nbsp; She grew up in North Platte where she graduated from high school.

On December 31, 1953, Camille wed Bruce Weesner and to this union three kids were born.&nbsp; Camille stayed home and cared for the children until 1974 when she and Bruce bought The Hub Bar, which they still own today. She was a constant presence at the bar, working and visiting with patrons for over 52 years.&nbsp; But it wasn't work to her, she loved serving and socializing with all the people that stopped in.

Camille loved spending time with family and friends, cooking for them at the cabin at the lake.&nbsp; In her free time, she enjoyed attending auctions and she loved watching sports, especially football and golf.&nbsp; Her presence will be greatly missed from the bar and the family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tenni Rottman; great-grandson, Zane Jedrzejczyk; sisters, Mary Alice Boss and Carolyn Roussel; and her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Bruce and their son, Michael Weesner of North Platte; her daughter, Gale Kangas of Omaha; son-in-law, Roger Rottman of Laramie, WY;&nbsp; grandchildren, Todd Jedrzejczyk, Jamie Simants (John), Kaitlin Kangas and Elizabeth Flynn (MJ); great-grandkids, Tenni and Carter Still and Alexa and Sully Jedrzejczyk; as well as other family.

Camille Roberta Weesner (1937-2025)

Hildreth "Hil" Brammer Monahan was born on March 18, 1930 in Bingham, Nebraska to Elmer and Edithe (McCarty) Brammer, and passed away on April 30, 2025 in Alliance, Nebraska at the age of 95.

Hil was the 8th of nine children.&nbsp; Edithe passed away when Hil was seven years old, and her older sisters helped raise her and the younger brothers.&nbsp; Hil attended school in Bingham and graduated with one other classmate.&nbsp; After graduation, she received her teacher's certificate from Chadron State College, and taught in a country school south of Ashby for two years.&nbsp; She saved enough money to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for one year.

During the two summers before graduating from high school, Hil helped out the cook at the Monahan Cattle Company ranch near Hyannis.&nbsp; It was there she met James A. Monahan, her future husband.&nbsp; After finishing college in Lincoln, they were married on August 20, 1950 in Bingham.

Hil was immediately introduced to the ranch wife life as the garden and canning of produce were in full swing.&nbsp; One week following the wedding, the ranch cook passed away and Hil became the temporary cook.&nbsp; She continued to fill in, when needed, at the cookhouse for over 40 years.

Hil and James had four children:&nbsp; Bryan, Bob, Gerri, and Joan.&nbsp; Hil enjoyed sewing clothes for the family, knitting, embroidery, and needlework.&nbsp; Tending to her flower gardens brought her much joy.&nbsp; Hil was involved with the King's Daughters at church.&nbsp; Flying the American flag was special to Hil.&nbsp; She did all this while keeping an immaculate house.&nbsp; Hil was a wonderful cook and hostess.&nbsp; Christmas was her favorite holiday, especially when preparing the prime rib roast for the family gathering.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy.

Hil also enjoyed attending the kids' activities.&nbsp; She like to play bridge and other card games, and worked many crossword puzzles.&nbsp; Other interests were playing the organ, bowling, and weekend at the lake.&nbsp; Visiting with friends and family over a cup of coffee, the Nebraska Huskers, and most of all, Herefords were highlights.

Through the years, she embraced ranch life while raising her family.&nbsp; If she wasn't out working in the yards and garden, doing the ranch bookwork and purebred records, she was helping on the ranch wherever needed, from hauling cattle to the sale barn, raising chickens, gathering cattle on horseback, branding, and everything in between.

Hil was active in the Nebraska and American Hereford Auxiliary and the Nebraska Cow Belles.&nbsp; She dedicated her life to the Hereford world and in 1987 was named "Outstanding Hereford Woman" by the American Hereford Auxiliary.&nbsp; 

Through the years, Hil and James traveled extensively.&nbsp; Their home away from home family vacations involved a tent, a pickup-topped camper, trailer, or one of their motorhomes.&nbsp; A lot of fall weekends were spent traveling to Lincoln for Husker football games with friends and family.&nbsp; Hil and James traveled abroad, attending three World Hereford Conferences.

Hil was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Edithe; sisters Arlene Boots, Francis Reed, Mildred Lineback, and Edna Grose; and brothers Hank Brammer, Don Brammer, Elmer Brammer Jr., and Richard "Dick" Brammer.

Survivors include her husband, James, of 75 years; children Bryan (LaRene) Monahan, Bob Monahan, and Joan (Dan) Phipps all on the ranch, and Gerri Monahan of Lincoln, NE.&nbsp; Grandchildren include Beth (Bob) Bush, Rocky (Melissa) Holm, Chedric Monahan, Marde (Zac) Thomas, Molly Monahan, Mark Monahan, Shantel (Travis) Lurz, John (fiancé Nikki) Monahan, and Sara (Jackson) Davis; 10 great grandchildren, three sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. MDT at the Hyannis High School.&nbsp; Interment will be at the Hyannis Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation with the family present will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. MDT at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Alliance, Nebraska

 </figure>Hildreth "Hil" Brammer Monahan was born on March 18, 1930 in Bingham, Nebraska to Elmer and Edithe (McCarty) Brammer, and passed away on April 30, 2025 in Alliance, Nebraska at the age of 95.Hil was the 8th of nine children.&nbsp; Edithe passed away when Hil was seven years old, and her older sisters helped raise her and the younger brothers.&nbsp; Hil attended school in Bingham and graduated with one other classmate.&nbsp; After graduation, she received her teacher's certificate from Chadron State College, and taught in a country school south of Ashby for two years.&nbsp; She saved enough money to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for one year.During the two summers before graduating from high school, Hil helped out the cook at the Monahan Cattle Company ranch near Hyannis.&nbsp; It was there she met James A. Hildreth "Hil" Brammer Monahan  (1930-2025)

Sharon Lee Hilliard, age 85, of Ogallala, NE peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in the presence of her three children, Kevin, Kelly, and Kristi.

She was born in Ogallala, NE on August 1, 1939 to Henry and Nellie Mayden.&nbsp; She was the second of three children.&nbsp; Sharon graduated from Ogallala High School in 1957.&nbsp; She married Samuel Azro Hilliard, her high school sweetheart, on June 7, 1959.&nbsp; They made their home on Sam's family farm south of Roscoe, NE.&nbsp; They raised 3 children on the farm:&nbsp; Samuel Kevin, Kelly, and Kristi.

Sharon's high school friendships didn't end at graduation.&nbsp; Her Class of '57 friendships were cultivated for years to come with annual trips to see her friends.&nbsp; The real love of Sharon's life were her grandchildren: Shawn, Shane, Shadd, Jaymie, Jack, and Nicholas.&nbsp; She rocked them when they were babies and let them run the farm as they grew.

Sharon is survived by her son, Samuel Kevin Hilliard of Grant, NE; her two daughters, Kelly (Kevin) Utley of Ogallala, NE and Kristi Hilliard (Mike Snyder) of Ogallala, NE; five grandsons, Shawn (Jeannine Cochran of Fleming, CO, Shane (Whitney) Cochran of Kearney, NE, Shadd Cochran of Lincoln, NE, Nicholas Snyder of Ogallala, NE, and Jack Snyder of Ogallala, NE; one granddaughter, Jaymie Lynn Hilliard of Kearney, NE; two great grandsons, Colton Cochran and Carter Cochran; and a great granddaughter, Berkleigh Cochran.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Christopher Hilliard; her sister, Patricia Darnell; and her brother, Robert Mayden.

Doris Eva Martin, 77, of North Platte passed away April 21, 2025 at North Platte Care Center. She was born October 1, 1947 to Raymond and Leona (Heath) Fisher in McCook.

Doris worked as a waitress and loved to play cards and crochet. She also enjoyed watching Monday Night Raw. Her family always joked that she was a member of “The Butt Sisters”.&nbsp; Doris was very opinionated and had a dry sense of humor.

Survivors include children, Mark Fisher and his daughter Domonique, Tina Dunbar and her daughters Kaleen and Jessica, Toni Owen and her children, Amber, John, and Sean; step daughter, Jennifer Spicer; sister, DonnaDette “Dee” (Jerry) Schwedler; 10 great grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends.

Doris Eva Martin (1947-2025)

Ethan Max Brittenham, age 16, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on April 22, 2025 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was born on August 14, 2008, to Alicia Tschetter Brittenham and Duane Brittenham. A sophomore at North Platte High School, Ethan was known for his quiet confidence, strong work ethic, and deep capacity for kindness.

Ethan was a sweet and loving kid: tough, strong, and hardworking, but never too proud to let his mom, Grammy, or aunties love on him. Whether he was talking to adults or working alongside neighbors, he carried himself with a maturity far beyond his years. He was a good conversationalist and an even better listener—composed, respectful, and easy to be around.

Ethan had a deep love for the outdoors and lived for deer season. He shot his first deer at age 12 and filled his license every year after. He never shied away from a job, whether it was mowing lawns, fixing fence, or painting window trim. He began lifting weights with his dad at 12 and rarely missed a day at the gym. He understood the meaning of “What happens with the boys stays with the boys.”

He found a passion in welding and his team recently placed third at the state level in Skills USA. Ethan saw a future in it. He was also an adventurer at heart. He traveled to Alaska with his grandparents in 2022 and 2024 and was already planning a 200-mile float trip down the Yukon River. He loved flying with his Grandpa Carl and was always thrilled to take the controls.

Ethan also had a playful side that shone brightest with the people he loved. He could spend hours playing Gran Turismo 3 or Wii tennis, setting off fireworks on the Fourth of July in Aberdeen, or racing go-karts (once so hard he broke a rib he didn’t tell his mom about). He loved Nerf battles, Minecraft, late-night phone calls, and talking about welding projects or the truck he was fixing up. His humor, curiosity, and creativity made him a joy to be around.

One of Ethan’s proudest projects was restoring a 1959 Chevy truck given to him by his Grandpa Carl. Though it didn’t run at first—and even without brakes—he worked on it with his dad until it ran. Someday he was going to drive it with his favorite music blaring through the speakers: Chris Stapleton and Hank Williams Jr.

Ethan had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and was something of a cat whisperer. He loved Taco Bell Doritos tacos with green sauce, Five Guys fries, and homemade chuck wagon beans—his go-to dish when his mom wasn’t home to cook. He believed in real mashed potatoes (never from a box).

Ethan lived fully and loved deeply, with a kind heart, a strong spirit, and a generous soul. His presence made life better for everyone lucky enough to know him.

The family members who preceded him in death were his grandfathers: Gary Brittenham, Thomas Tschetter, and Duane Knepke.

Survivors include his parents; his grandparents: Betty Knepke-Hamit and Carl Hamit (Wallace), Mary Tschetter (South Carolina); Denise Brittenham (Gothenburg), his uncle, Dale Brittenham (North Platte); his Cousaunt Erin Anderson and Funcle Brady Shelbourn (Minneapolis, MN); his godparents Treg and Cameron Vyzourek (Superior); and great aunts, great uncles, and cousins of the Tschetter, Anderson, Hamit, and Knepke families. He also held a special place in his heart for his “Aunt” Krissy Rumery.

He is deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express.

Ethan Brittenham (2008-2025)

Betty Jean Kupper, age 101 of Ogallala, Nebraska, died Monday, April 21st, 2025, at Wel-life Assisted Living in Ogallala, Nebraska.

Betty J Kupper was born April 28, 1923 to Claudius and Lula (Bennett) Pickrel in York County, Nebraska. Betty was the only girl with three older brothers and one younger brother.

She attended grade school at Liberty School in District #58. She would complete high school at York High in May of 1941. She also attended York College.

Betty worked for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph as a toll instructor. Later, she worked for Consumers Public Power in York. Upon moving to Ogallala, she worked at the Arterburn Shoe Store and the Keith County Superintendent’s Office.

She met 1st Lieutenant Bernard C. Kupper at the York Country Club. They were married on September 4, 1943. He was transferred overseas shortly thereafter. When Lt. Kupper returned home, he was employed by the Consumers Public Power District. Betty then became a full-time homemaker. They had 3 boys (Bernard Jr., Robert, and James) while in York. Bernie and Betty were then transferred to Ogallala with Consumers Public Power which eventually became Nebraska Public Power District.

Betty was a 60+ year member of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Geneva 180 Order of the Eastern Star, a lifetime charter member of the World War II memorial, American Legion auxiliary, as well as many civic and social groups in Ogallala.

She enjoyed her family, friends and flower gardening. She even planted beautiful zinnias each year in the alley behind her home to beautify that area. She loved travelling with her good friend, Rita. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her delight.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. (MT) at First United Methodist Church in Ogallala with Rev. Curt Magelky officiating.

Interment will be Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. (CT) in Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska, with Rev. Curt Magelky officiating.

Survivors include her sons Robert Kupper (Donna Pagliaro) and James (Deb) Kupper; Daughter in laws Robbie Kupper and Susan Kupper; Her grandchildren Bernard Kupper III (Jodi), Scott Kupper, Joseph Kupper (Elizabeth), James Kupper Jr. (Danielle), Gwendolyn Kupper and Robert Kupper Jr. (Zhen).&nbsp; Also surviving her were her great grandchildren Joseph Kupper Jr., Ava Kupper, Jeremiah Kupper and James Kupper III, as well as nephew Russell Pickrel, and nieces Jeanne Pickrel and Lynn Grub (David).

She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard, oldest son Bernard Jr., her parents, her brothers Claude Jr., Raymond, Russell and Robert and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to any of these three causes, the World War II memorial, Wounded Warriors and Wel Life flower and plant project to help beautify Wel Life.

 </figure>Betty Jean Kupper, age 101 of Ogallala, Nebraska, died Monday, April 21st, 2025, at Wel-life Assisted Living in Ogallala, Nebraska.Betty J Kupper was born April 28, 1923 to Claudius and Lula (Bennett) Pickrel in York County, Nebraska. Betty was the only girl with three older brothers and one younger brother.She attended grade school at Liberty School in District #58. She would complete high school at York High in May of 1941. She also attended York College.Betty worked for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph as a toll instructor. Later, she worked for Consumers Public Power in York. Upon moving to Ogallala, she worked at the Arterburn Shoe Store and the Keith County Superintendent’s Office.She met 1st Lieutenant Bernard C. Kupper at the York Country Club. They were married on September 4, 1943. He was transferred overseas shortly thereafter. When Lt. Kupper returned home, he was employed by the Consumers Public Power District. Betty then became a full-time homemaker. They had 3 boys (Bernard Jr., Robert, and James) while in York. Bernie and Betty were then transferred to Ogallala with Consumers Public Power which eventually became Nebraska Public Power District.Betty was a 60+ year member of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Geneva 180 Order of the Eastern Star, a lifetime charter member of the World War II memorial, American Legion auxiliary, as well as many civic and social groups in Ogallala.She enjoyed her family, friends and flower gardening. She even planted beautiful zinnias each year in the alley behind her home to beautify that area. She loved travelling with her good friend, Rita. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her delight.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. (MT) at First United Methodist Church in Ogallala with Rev. Curt Magelky officiating.Interment will be Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. (CT) in Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska, with Rev. Betty Jean Kupper (1923-2025)

Marie Irene Dugan, age 84, of North Platte, died April 17, 2025 at Great Plains Health, surrounded by family. She was born on January 5, 1941 in Brule, NE to Earl and Martha (Wiest) Campbell.

Marie graduated with the class of 1959 from North Platte High School. On October 3, 1963, she married Robert Dugan in Cheyenne, WY. The couple made their home in North Platte where Marie worked at Campus Cleaners from 1971-1984. Marie enjoyed crocheting, crafting and making things, reading and going to the stock car races. She was also an avid NASCAR, and Husker volleyball and football fan.

Survivors include her husband Robert of North Platte; children, Timothy of Wichita, Kansas, Teresa Dugan of North Platte, NE; brothers, Dennis Campbell of North Platte, and Richard “Dick” Campbell of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister- in- law, Barbara Campbell of Colorado Springs, Co; 5 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Ida Ingels and Beverly Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Campbell; 2 sisters, Lois (Carl) Bergland, and Margaret (Dean) Jensen; and her step mother, Hazel Campbell.

Lifelong North Platte resident Stephen Dent, DDS, passed away on March 27, 2025. He was preceded in death by father George Dent, Jr., mother Maxine Jennings, step-father Bill Jennings, and brother-in-law Roger Dillon. Stephen L. Dent (1951-2025)

Erik Scot “Redd” Brittenham, age 44, unexpectedly passed away on April 9, 2025, at Great Plains Health. He was born on July 29, 1980, in Lexington, NE. Erik was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, partner, and ROAD MC brother who will be deeply missed. As a child, Erik was adorable with his fiery red hair and freckles. He was always kind and respectful, traits that he carried with him into adulthood. Erik grew up in North Platte and later received his GED and Brickmasons Apprenticeship from Job Corps in Chadron, Nebraska. At 16, he developed a passion for cooking and baking, honing his skills to later become a chef in the restaurant industry. Erik adored children and loved his nephews and niece so much. He met the love of his life, Juanita Mills, in June 2024. Erik instantly bonded with her three daughters and cherished the time they spent together. In the last several years, Erik developed a deep love for motorcycles and was especially proud of his Harley Davidson 2003 Road King CVO. If he could have found a way, Erik would have put his beloved dog, Cali, on the back of his bike and taken her along for every ride. When Erik became a member of the motorcycle club ROAD MC, he was immediately accepted for who he was. He developed a strong fellowship with his motorcycle brothers, especially LeRoy Gray, Jr. and JT Beck. Together they rode, played cornhole, and enjoyed poker runs. Erik and LeRoy won the Thedford Poker Run championship two years in a row.

Erik is survived by his parents, Rick and Cathy Brittenham of North Platte; siblings, Jeff (Rebecca) Brittenham and Becka (Matt Helms) Brittenham all of North Platte; nephews and niece, Jett, Roland, Quinn, and Indie all of North Platte; maternal grandmother, Betty Jean Huntsman of Brady; partner, Juanita Mills of North Platte; bonus daughters, JoshLyn, Meyiah, and Keira; close friends, Chuck Mann and the Mann family, and James Tackett; as well as his extended family and many other friends. Preceding Erik in death are his paternal grandparents, Eldon and Shirley Brittenham; maternal grandfather, Thomas L. Huntsman; and maternal aunt, Alberta Abbott. Kay Elaine Peters, 76, went home to Heaven February 11, 2025, from Omaha, NE. She was born October 30, 1948 in Everest, Kansas.

Kay was the heart and soul of her family. She gave her children the love that knew no limits and worked tirelessly to ensure their happiness. She had a special gift for spoiling them with the little things that mattered most – whether it was a favorite treat, a thoughtful gesture, or simply the gift of her time.

One of Kay’s greatest joys in life was becoming a grandmother. She often said that her grandchildren brought her happiness like no other, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Whether it was sharing stories, creating memories, or simply watching them grow, her heart swelled with pride and love for each of them.

In recent years, Kay was filled with a renewed sense of joy and energy, thanks to the arrival of her beloved great grandson, Tyler. His presence brought a sparkle to her eyes and an infectious smile to her face, reminding her of the simple joys of life.

Her kindness and nurturing spirit was not only felt by family, but by her many friends that were dear to her. She always had a way of making others feel seen, valued and important. Her friends and family were blessed to have her in their lives, and her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she loved.

Kay is proceeded in death by mother Ruth Bower, father Robert Bower, and son Jeffrey Peters.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Stewart; son Greg (Tara) Peters; grandchildren Brody and Nathan; great grandson Tyler; niece Kim (Robert) Sparkman, nephew Charles (Denise) Smith, and other family members.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church in North Platte, NE with the Pastor Michael Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. A book signing will be held Friday, April 11th, 2025 from 12-5 PM at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with arrangements.

Kay Elaine Peters (1948-2025)

&nbsp; "From an early age my fascination, enjoyment, and appreciation, of all that I discovered in God's created world around me pointed me to the goodness of God.&nbsp; His love for me was readily apparent in the intricacy of His creation and its overwhelming but simple beauty...a sunrise, a sunset, a blue gill, a cinnamon teal or wood duck.&nbsp; God could have created them in black and white as far as I could perceive but He chose to lavish such beauty on me."&nbsp; Rom 1:18-21, Ps 8

Such was Lonnie L. Olson, 73, of North Platte, NE, who left this earth for Heaven on April 1, 2025.&nbsp; At home and at his side was his loving wife, Lynn, and his nurse and their friend, Sara.&nbsp; He was born in Broken Bow on February 5, 1952, to Leslie and Alberta Olson.&nbsp; Along with his sister, they lived in several towns in Nebraska as his father traveled with the Nebraska Department of Roads, finally settling in North Platte in 1964.&nbsp;

Regretfully, that marriage ended in 1993, after producing three children, and later, at least two grandchildren.&nbsp; A divine appointment (and yes, it involved fishing) led him to meet his second wife, Lynn, two months after his divorce was final. A friendship developed through a local Christian singles group and another divine appointment, and in the Lord's timing, a courtship began in 1996, with a subsequent wedding in 1997. Together they traveled the country shooting and visiting family, often finding a way to visit historical sites and museums.He continued to work for the railroad as the best engineer on the 2nd District, retiring in 2016.&nbsp; He continued the pursuits that he'd enjoyed as a young boy: fishing, shooting, playing chess, gardening, listening to Rush Limbaugh, watching history documentaries, or watching the Cornhusker football team until his health began to fail.Lonnie is survived by his faithful wife Lynn; godson, Michael Schwab; brothers-in-law, Harvard (Pam) Miller of Eldersburg, MD, and Mark (Dawn)Miller of Upperco, MD; sister-in-law, Bev Smith (Glade) of Cozad; nine nephews (especially his faithful friend and brother in Christ, Glade Miller "GM" Smith) and nieces; and 18 grand-nephews (with another on the way) and -nieces. Lynn is grateful for all the special nurses, aides, companions, physical therapist, Cindy at Westfield Pharmacy, Palliative Care, and Brookestone Hospice: Amber, Suzie, Meghan, Wendy, Barb, Tracy, Joanne, Shirleen, John, and especially Sara who blessed both Lonnie and I with kindness, courage and a forever love to our hearts.&nbsp; She created a giving community for us, which the Lord in His mercy has extended for Lynn. Several have become like family, blessing us with time with their children, and relationships that will not end.Lonnie is preceded to Heaven by his parents and grandparents; six grand-nephews and -nieces; and at least one grandchild. And David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord."&nbsp; I Chronicles 28:28(NKJV)Lonnie will be remembered for his laugh, sense of humor, intelligence, wisdom, passion for truth, and never meeting a stranger. The rare few that truly appreciated him are richer for it.
