&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Hope Delores Kalblinger, age 95 of Valentine, passed away December 3, 2021 at North Platte Care Center.&nbsp;Hope was born on March 6, 1926 in Valentine, NE to Lawrence and Georgia (Taylor) Engles. She grew up in the area and graduated from Valentine High School.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was married to Clinton William Kalblinger in 1945. To their union three children were born, William Lawrence, Jeanne Delores and Mark Steven.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Hope was devoted to her family and her faith; extending kindness to all she met. She mastered the art of cooking and leaves behind fond memories to those who have gathered at her table.

Harold L. Fisher, 78, of North Platte, died January 20, 2021, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Harold was born February 05, 1942, in Paxton, NE, to Herman and Viola (Jennings) Fischer. He grew up in Paxton where he also attended school. On October 24, 1963 he married Catherine Fahnholz. To this union one daughter, Diane, was born. He was a cowboy for 23 years, then he went to driving a feed truck for a feedlot. Harold enjoyed being a “Papa” and “Great Papa”, watching the Husker’s playing football with his family and friends.

Survivors include sister-in-law, Bertha Fischer, North Platte; son-in-law, Wayne Hall, Stapleton, NE.; grandchildren Brittany (Ian Anderson) Caudillo, Crawford, NE., Nicole Caudillo, North Platte, Valerie (Dequan) Navarrete, North Platte, Cassandra (Eric) Hall, Idaho, Joseph Hall, North Platte, Cathleen (Grant) Krentz, North Platte; 14 great-grandchildren; special friends David (Brenda) Caudillo, North Platte, Rod (Cindy) Wheeler, North Platte, Valerie (Walt) Harrington, Peru, NE. Harold L Fischer (1942-2021)

John&nbsp;Hoban, age 55, of North Platte, Nebraska, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 3, 2021, after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

John was only 2 pounds 6 ounces when he was born on June 2, 1966, in Chehalis, Washington. He was later adopted by Patricia and Frank Cleveland. After divorcing, Pat married John 'Buck' Hoban and he promptly adopted John as his own.

John graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview, WA, and Clover Park Technical College in Tacoma, WA, as a Telecommunications Technician. He worked many jobs over the years including for US West in Vancouver, WA, Qwest in Alliance, and in North Platte he worked for North Platte Public Schools and FBG Services.

John had a real love of all music, especially classic rock. He had a great sense of humor and said he was going to keep sending messages to his mom by changing her radio station from classic country to classic rock so she would know he was thinking of her.

John was a great friend to many and was always there when needed. He will be forever missed and the world is a lesser place without him.

John was preceded in death by his father John 'Buck' Hoban; grandparents, Orel and Lois Blair and William and Lillian Hoban; aunts, Debbie Hail, Helen Rogers, Shirley Hoban, Anna Hoban; uncles, Andy, Moe, Fay and Ron Hoban; and his special cousin, Steve Hilton.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Hoban; many beloved aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; and a multitude of friends including his sister-of-the-heart, Vi Hughes, and grade school buddy, Brian Smith.

John Hoban (1966-2021)

Betty&nbsp;Hellmuth, age 85, of Hershey, Nebraska, died with her family by her side on December 2, 2021, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Betty was born at Farnam on August 11, 1936, to Willis and Trena Stevenson. Towards the end of high school, the family moved to Wallace so Betty graduated from Wallace High School in 1954. Then the family moved again, this time to Hershey where her parents opened the Hershey Cafe. Betty went on to attend Kearney State College and earned her teaching certificate. She taught for rural District 26, south of Hershey, then when the school district consolidated she taught Third Grade at Hershey Public School.

On August 7, 1955, at Maria Lutheran Church in Hershey, Betty was united in marriage to John Hellmuth. The couple made their home and raised their family in Hershey. In 1978, she and John bought Ted's Store and operated it together as Jack &amp; Jill's Grocery.

Betty was active in the community all her life. She was a lifetime member of the PTA, was involved with Teammates mentoring, was a Pep Club sponsor, HELP Club member, music parent, 4-H volunteer, and a member and Sunday School Teacher at Maria Lutheran Church. She also owned and operated the Hershey Ceramic Shop for several years.

Betty was kind, creative and cared about others. She always sent cards to people for their special occasions and loved baking pies and cakes and always made birthday cakes for her family. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and sister.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Willis and Trena Stevenson; sister-in-law, Shirley Edwards; brothers-in-law, Neil Seybold and Jerry Hellmuth; and niece, Kerry Edwards.

She is survived by her children, Jason (Loretta) Hellmuth, of Lincoln, Jared Hellmuth (Suzanne Finney), of Hershey and Janice (Neal) Creekpaum, of North Platte; grandchildren, Bryson (Skyler), Baylor and Ryan Hellmuth and Amanda (Kyle) Clark; great-grandchildren, Taysom, Troy and Sadie Hellmuth; her sister, Diane (Bob) Adams, of Kearney; niece Shelia, and nephews, Rick, Chris, Scott, Mike and Andy; as well as other family.

Betty Hellmuth (1936-2021)

Marvin&nbsp;Danielson, age 91, of Sutherland, Nebraska, passed away at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue on December 1, 2021.

Marvin was born in North Platte to Harold and Sarah Danielson on September 22, 1930. He grew up in Sutherland, where he graduated from high school. Immediately after graduating, Marvin joined the U.S. Air Force. He served as a clerk typist during the Korean War and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. While working in the office he met his future bride, Winifred 'Winnie' Farrish.

Marvin and Winnie married December 18, 1954. Following his discharge in '55, the couple lived in Sutherland where Marvin worked for Ed Goedert.&nbsp; The Danielson's then moved to New York where Marvin worked for the Republic Aircraft Company and did electrical work on the side.

Marvin was so good at being an electrician and became so busy, he started his own electrical contracting business. In 1976, he sold his business and the family returned to Nebraska. They lived in North Platte then returned to Sutherland where they purchased Sno-A-White from his parents and operated it for several years.

During retirement Marvin continued doing electrical work for Tory Copeland because he loved what he did. Marvin was proud of his military service and was selected for a Veteran's Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. a few years ago. During the trip he met a South Korean General who gave him a big medal to hang around his neck and a certificate written in Korean and English!

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie; parents, Harold and Sarah; sister, Sharon and her husband, Jerry Welsh; and his brother, Ronald.

Marvin is survived by his daughters, Mary (Jim) Mohr and Dana Danielson; twin grandsons, Kevin and Andrew; and his brother, Darrell (Sara Lou) Danielson.

Graveside service with military honors will be 11 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sutherland. Cremation will follow the viewing. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Marvin Danielson (1930-2021)

Karen Kay Lehmann, age 60, passed away peacefully at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 1, 2021. Karen was born April 6, 1961 in San Diego, California to Ted and Phyllis (Adams) Thomas. She was the middle of three daughters. Karen graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1979. Following graduation, she attended Central Community College in Hastings for Dental Hygiene. On June 6, 1981, Karen married Kevin Lehmann. The couple lived near Eustis, Nebraska where they raised their two children, Nathan and Tristan. Karen lived a very adventurous and fun life. She practiced as a dental hygienist for over 30 years. She enjoyed being Crew Chief for Kevin during their years of Hot Air Ballooning. She would often trick her kids into going to balloon rallies by telling them they were going on vacation. When they moved to Lincoln she got involved in Healing Hearts Therapy Dogs and soon became a board member of the organization. Karen recruited and certified many therapy dogs. She started therapy dog visits at the Lincoln Airport and made many friends with the airports TSA employees. Karen also took an interest in saving wolves at Yellowstone. She spotted a white female wolf that she was interested in and donated money to the cause. Karen was preceded in death by her father Ted; sister Tamie; and her mother and father in-law, June and Sherman Lehmann. She is survived by her husband Kevin of Lincoln; two children, Nathan (Natalie) Lehmann of Ord and Tristan (Matt) Newcomb of Eustis; mother, Phyllis Thomas of Cozad; sister,Lisa (Derrick) Gengenbach of Cozad; grandchildren, Kellan, Drew and Amelia; nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.  </figure>Karen Kay Lehmann, age 60, passed away peacefully at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 1, 2021. Karen was born April 6, 1961 in San Diego, California to Ted and Phyllis (Adams) Thomas. She was the middle of three daughters. Karen graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1979. Following graduation, she attended Central Community College in Hastings for Dental Hygiene. On June 6, 1981, Karen married Kevin Lehmann. The couple lived near Eustis, Nebraska where they raised their two children, Nathan and Tristan. Karen lived a very adventurous and fun life. She practiced as a dental hygienist for over 30 years. She enjoyed being Crew Chief for Kevin during their years of Hot Air Ballooning. She would often trick her kids into going to balloon rallies by telling them they were going on vacation. When they moved to Lincoln she got involved in Healing Hearts Therapy Dogs and soon became a board member of the organization. Karen recruited and certified many therapy dogs. She started therapy dog visits at the Lincoln Airport and made many friends with the airports TSA employees. Karen also took an interest in saving wolves at Yellowstone. She spotted a white female wolf that she was interested in and donated money to the cause. Karen was preceded in death by her father Ted; sister Tamie; and her mother and father in-law, June and Sherman Lehmann. She is survived by her husband Kevin of Lincoln; two children, Nathan (Natalie) Lehmann of Ord and Tristan (Matt) Newcomb of Eustis; mother, Phyllis Thomas of Cozad; sister,Lisa (Derrick) Gengenbach of Cozad; grandchildren, Kellan, Drew and Amelia; nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. In lieu of plants, memorials are suggested to Healing Heart Therapy Dogs, 15855 Bobwhite Trail, Crete, NE 68333. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eustis United Methodist Church. It was Karen's wish to be cremated. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Eustis United Methodist Church, family will be present.

Darrin&nbsp;Hansen, age 56, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away at home on December 1, 2021. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and a grandfather known as 'Papa'. Darrin was born in North Platte, the third child of Ray and Carol Hansen. He attended Hall School, Madison Junior High and graduated from NPHS in 1983. He hired out with the UPRR in 1989 and was employed as an Engineer for 28 years and served as a UTU Local #7 Griever for 8 years. In 1992, Darrin met Voni DuBry and they were united in marriage in May of '98. After meeting his wife Voni, they made their home of 23 years in North Platte. Voni was his one true love and whenever they could, they enjoyed country dancing. His second love, pride and joy was his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Darrin was a member of the APA Pool League and greatly enjoyed shooting Sunday 9-Ball. Every chance he got he was at his brother Tim's, asking if he wanted a shot at the "Title." Summertime was his favorite time with the pool up, kids swimming, cold beer and BBQ's. July 4th was "his" holiday. You could find him in the evenings at the patio table out back, drinking beer and singing from his favorite playlist on his phone. He loved camping with family, bonfires, teaching the kids to ride the jet ski - but most of all he loved sunsets over the lake. Darrin's most memorable trait was that he always made sure to tell his children and grandchildren that he loved them with all his heart. Donna Miriam Mattox, 88, of Broken Bow, NE went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2021.&nbsp; She was born April 21, 1933, in Juneau, Alaska to Robert Sr and Evelyn Brown.&nbsp; They lived there until she turned 12.&nbsp; They moved to Seattle, WA.&nbsp; She lived in Seattle and California until she graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle.&nbsp; She was a sophomore in high school when she gave her heart to the Lord.&nbsp; This change brought Jesus and Max into her life.&nbsp; Bob McCaslin, Max’s cousin, attended the same church in Seattle.&nbsp; He asked her to write a soldier boy in Korea.&nbsp; She was in competition with 3 other girls, but Donna won his heart.&nbsp; After several letters back and forth they were married December 21, 1952, in Seattle, WA.&nbsp; They moved to Nebraska after he finished his military term.&nbsp; City life to farm life brought her many changes.&nbsp; She learned to milk cows, sell eggs and garden.&nbsp; She stayed very busy with her 4 children.&nbsp; She worked at IGA and in-home caregiver for many years.&nbsp;&nbsp; Helping others was her passion.&nbsp; She was an active member of her church and hospice but most important to her was her family.&nbsp; Each child challenged her patience and faith with many farm related accidents and hospital stays.&nbsp; She blessed everyone she knew even up to her death with calls of love for Thanksgiving.&nbsp; She loved writing letters, reading books and being the family historian.&nbsp; 61 years of marriage to Max brought them 5 children.&nbsp; Donna’s special friend throughout this hard city to farm life change was Wilda McCaslin.&nbsp; In her last few months her special caregivers were Tracy Konifal and Nina Hurlbert. Dennis S. Burmood, 79, of Lexington passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at his home. Denny, you left us early Thanksgiving surrounded by your family, Jo, Kim, Chris, Ben and Blake. We are thankful we were there to hold your hand, to let you know you are loved and will be missed. Your leaving tore a hole in our hearts. We want you to know that you battled this cancer with dignity and grace. However, cancer does not define you. Your legacy is how you treated people. How accepted and respected you made each of us feel. Dennis Sheridan Burmood was born to Tex and Bobbie Burmood August 5, 1942 in Grand Island, Nebraska. Denny spent his first 14 years traveling with his parents from state to state, as his dad was a lineman for Bell Telephone. When he was school age he lived with his Grandma and Grandpa Burmood in Grand Island. Summer months were spent at Grandma Oliver in Shelton, where his uncles taught him to hunt and fish. This nomadic lifestyle ended when Bobbie, Tex and Denny settled in Lexington where his brother Michael was born. Denny participated in band, quartet and football at Lexington High School. He was proud to be part of the 1958 Hall of Fame Lexington football team. After graduating he attended Kearney State College. Denny met Jo Milhoan while detasseling corn one summer. They were married three years later at the Methodist Church in Lexington. They were blessed with three children, Kim, Chris and Ben and grandchildren: Zach, Jaden, Blake and Frankie Jo. Denny was a great friend and hard working guy. You may remember him from helping you at Sixth Street Foods. He may have poured you a beer at the Vet's Club or shown you the door at the Blue Lounge. Denny may have pulled the chute for your big ride at the Plum Creek Rodeo. Together Denny and Jo created their business, Fine Touch. He was a good neighbor and never met a stranger. Denny and Jo welcomed all into their home. Many alone for the holidays found a home at the Burmood's. If you were sick, he visited you in the hospital. If you needed a ride, he was at your front door. If you needed a friend, he was there. There will be so many missed moments. Who's going to dance like there's no tomorrow? How do we face Christmas without your lights illuminating our home? Who will trap the possums in our basement? We will miss you every day, Denny! He was proud to be part of the 1958 Hall of Fame Lexington football team. After graduating he attended Kearney State College. Denny met Jo Milhoan while detasseling corn one summer. They were married three years later at the Methodist Church in Lexington. They were blessed with three children, Kim, Chris and Ben and grandchildren: Zach, Jaden, Blake and Frankie Jo. Denny was a great friend and hard working guy. You may remember him from helping you at Sixth Street Foods. He may have poured you a beer at the Vet's Club or shown you the door at the Blue Lounge. Denny may have pulled the chute for your big ride at the Plum Creek Rodeo. Together Denny and Jo created their business, Fine Touch. He was a good neighbor and never met a stranger. Denny and Jo welcomed all into their home. Many alone for the holidays found a home at the Burmood's. If you were sick, he visited you in the hospital. If you needed a ride, he was at your front door. If you needed a friend, he was there. There will be so many missed moments. Who's going to dance like there's no tomorrow? How do we face Christmas without your lights illuminating our home? Who will trap the possums in our basement? We will miss you every day, Denny! Dennis S. Burmood (1942-2021)

William “Bill” Noble Smets, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Avamere in Lexington. He was born on April 19, 1936, to J. Russell and Laura Mae (Wicklund) Smets on the family farm in the Swiss Valley north of Broken Bow, Nebraska. Bill graduated from Broken Bow High School with the class of 1953. He was united in marriage to Shirley Sprague at Huntley, Nebraska, in 1956 and to this union three children were born: Nicholas, Brent, and Ann. They lived in Eustis, Nebraska and have resided in Lexington, Nebraska since 1973. Bill proudly served in the 568th&nbsp;Field Artillery, the 128th&nbsp;Engineer Battalion, and 1-195 Armor Battalion in the United States Army National Guard from 1953 to 1988, retiring as Brigade Commander with the rank of Colonel. He fondly recalls the training and the opportunities to guide the young minds of the next generations of military. He was employed by the Nebraska Department of Roads for 55 years, starting as a mechanic and retiring in 2013 as the Superintendent of Roads, a position he held for 23 years. Upon retirement, Bill certainly did not miss working on the road crews during blizzards in the middle of the night. He also graduated from Central Community College in 1986 with the distinction of being the first person to receive a degree without ever attending classes on any of the three campuses; the entirety of his college work was completed through the Lexington Learning Center. He also transferred credits through Kearney State College and the military as he earned as Associates of Applied Science degree in Business Management. Bill enjoyed gardening, whittling, camping, fishing, refurbishing old cars, playing cards, fixing things, and telling jokes and stories, but he mostly loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington and volunteered in many capacities but may be best remembered for his original children’s sermons. He also belonged to the Goldenrod Car Club, the Lions, Cosmos, Masons, and the Shriners. Bill was proud of his family and country, and was honored to serve both to the best of his God-given ability. Conley passed away on November 29,&nbsp;2021,&nbsp;at Community Hospital of McCook.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Brewster, KS on March 12, 1936,&nbsp;to Andy&nbsp;and Sylvia (Jensen) Pounds.&nbsp;&nbsp;Wanda attended Brewster High School&nbsp;and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science at Fort Hayes&nbsp;State College&nbsp;in 1961.&nbsp;She belonged to the Delta Cappa Gamma Sorority for Educators.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Frank Conley on June 13, 1965, at the Pleasant Home church in Brewster. Two children were born to this union: Debra and Mark. Frank preceded her in death on June 22, 2018. Wanda taught in the Communities of Ludell, Colby, Atwood, and McDonald, KS for 10 years. She later was a substitute and a paraprofessional in the Speech Department in Atwood.&nbsp; After moving to McCook, she was happily employed by Wal Mart for 17 years. Gary D. Snyder (1966-2021)

Dolores Mae Kinsman Daly was born on January 23, 1935, in Ringgold, Nebraska, and entered God’s Kingdom on November 30, 2021, at Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, Nebraska. Dolores, known to everyone as Dee, was the daughter of Allan and Beulah (Marvin) Kinsman. She spent much of her early school years with her grandparents, George and Viora Marvin, living in the back of their store in Gandy, Nebraska. She attended high school at McPherson County High School in Tryon, Nebraska and later at Arthur County High School, graduating in 1957. On March 10, 1951, she married Lloyd (Swede) Daly and they began working for various ranches, beginning at the John Kramer Ranch working for Swede’s Aunt and Uncle Katie and Cliff Procise &nbsp;in Arthur County. In 1953 they moved to Keystone, Nebraska to work for George McGinley and returned to Arthur County in 1954 where they were employed by Ruth Jensen. In 1959, Swede and Dolores moved over the hill to the Dancer Ranch. In 1963, Swede and Dee and their five children moved briefly to Burwell, Nebraska. She never really liked living there and they moved back to Arthur later that year, living in town for a short period of time before moving to the Alice Peterson Ranch northwest of Arthur. In 1965, Swede and Dolores bought the Arthur Café on main street in Arthur. This began a long career of cooking for the entire community. She was particularly well known for her pies and cinnamon rolls. In 1977, Dee opened the Country Inn just outside Arthur and continued her restaurant skills. She continued running the Country Inn until 1985. At various times she leased out the café and worked at TRW, Wendy’s and cooked for Haythorn’s. Dee was active in American Legion Auxiliary, DOES, local quilting groups, and played bridge in clubs in Arthur and Ogallala. Dee and her partner Karol Cooney won the Ogallala Bridge Marathon’s at least ten times. She was a member of the Arthur Baptist Church and hosted a women’s Bible study in her home twice a month. Dale E. Cochrane, 92 of Eustis, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Cozad Community Hospital. Dale was the 3rd oldest of eight children and was born August 21, 1929 in Cozad, Nebraska to Leonard and Addie (McKinney) Cochrane. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952. On September 17, 1953, Dale married Beverly Bice in Lexington, Nebraska. They were married for 65 years. To this union, 5 children were born, Doug, Roy, Cathy, Marvin and Lori. They lived in many different states, as well as many different towns in Nebraska before settling in Eustis in 1967. Dale was a bee keeper for many years, worked in the oil fields, and at&nbsp; Monroe Auto. He eventually became a maintenance man for the Village of Eustis until his retirement. Dale was an member of the Eustis United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; mother and father in law; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; 2 son in laws; 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild. Survivors include his children, Doug (Tammy) Cochrane of Eustis, Roy Cochrane of Cozad; Cathy (Jeff) Warren of Pilger, NE, Marvin (Grace) Cochrane of Elwood and Lori Fletcher of Eustis; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and one on the way; and one great great grand daughter; special fur friend, Titus; along with numerous extended family, relatives and friends. Ilene Marie Combs, 84, of Burwell, passed away quietly at home surrounded by family after a battle with cancer. Ilene Combs was born October 19, 1937 in Sargent, Nebraska to Joseph Jake and Mary Doris (Cech) Bower. She attended elementary school at School District #56 and graduated from Burwell High School in 1954. Ilene taught school for one year and then married Evert Combs in June 1955. They moved to Wood Lake, Nebraska to work on a ranch, then returned to Burwell where they farmed and raised cattle. To this union, they had one daughter Linda (Punk), and two sons Steve and Stace. Ilene worked in the Burwell community for several businesses which included Burwell Bowling Alley, The Curler Factory, Jack &amp; Jill grocery store, House of Fashion, Ruthie’s Variety and Mr. J’s grocery store. Ilene was an accomplished seamstress and loved sewing clothes for her family and friends. Her favorite pastimes were reading western books, music, dancing, and putting together puzzles. She loved going to the Comstock Windmill Festival, watching Evert fish in the park, the occasional trip to Picks Town Casino and often attended her children and grandchildren’s school programs and sporting activities. Survivors include, daughter Linda “Punk”(George) Buhlke of Burwell, son Steve (Tam) Combs of Marianna, FL, son Stace (Trish) Combs of North Platte, NE; 8 grandchildren, Justin (Elizabeth) Buhlke, Brandon (Laurie) Buhlke, Felicia, Trenton, Jaimen (Tenaj) Combs, Chandler, Nicholas and Mollie Combs; 3 great grandchildren, Adeline, Greyson and Braelyn, sister Jean and husband Ed Bruha of Ord, sister in-law Helen Bower of Burwell along with a host of nieces and nephews. Following her high school graduation, she went on to earn a teaching certificate. On May 29, 1949 she married her childhood sweetheart, Dale Debban. Their union was blessed with 4 children, Cynthia, David, Douglas, and Donald. Gwen worked as a bookkeeper at a lumber yard for many years. She was a long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald and Edward Bannister, her husband of 56 years Dale Debban, granddaughter Monica Rose Debban, father -in-law Richard Debban, mother-in-law Hedwig Koitsch Debban, 7 brother-in-laws, and 6 sister-in-laws. Survivors include her daughter Cynthia Petermann (Marlin) of Omaha, sons David Debban (Shelley) of Hickman, Douglas Debban (Donna) of Lincoln, Donald Debban (Robin) of Elwood, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Meridee Debban, and a host of nieces and nephews who were very special to her. Clifford Dean “Cliff” Smith, 74, of North Platte, passed away November 28, 2021 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; He was born on December 8, 1946 to Robert and Signa (Patterson) Smith in Kearney. Cliff went to school in Maxwell before moving to North Platte.&nbsp; He graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1965.&nbsp; He married Linda Kincheloe on July 3, 1966 in North Platte.&nbsp; He enlisted in the United States Army in October 1966 and served in Germany. After the military, Cliff returned to Ogallala and worked at TRW.&nbsp; He moved back to North Platte in 1969 and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad. &nbsp;In his 38-year career, Cliff worked as a switchman-brakeman, yardmaster, trainmaster, and served as UTU 200 Union Griever, retiring as a switchman in 2007. Cliff loved woodworking, golf and fishing with the grandkids.&nbsp; He was maybe a little obsessive with his yard.&nbsp; He played on a pool league and was a Nebraska Cornhusker football fan (in the good years).&nbsp; Cliff always had a cuss jar that his nieces profited from.&nbsp; He always made others laugh and he had a contagious laugh.&nbsp; Cliff’s family was the center of his life, especially his grandkids.&nbsp; He will be remembered as a great hugger. Lori&nbsp;Rutan, a doting grandmother of two busy redheads, dear friend to many, and loving mother of two sons and two daughters-in-law, left this Earth on November 29, 2021, in North Platte, NE, at the age of 64. Lori was born in Kansas City, MO, where she lived until she was 14. She spent most of the rest of her life in North Platte where she was the heart, soul, and spirit of her and Sparrow Rutan's little family of four. Lori worked most of her life in service and loved getting to know so many of the people she met in all those years working with the public. The relationships she built with her co-workers, especially those at Nebraskaland Bank, were some of her most cherished. Many a night was spent by Lori at the Cedar Bowl where she participated in Women's Bowling League for years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was especially fond of making the trip to Omaha to watch Harper play football. She also enjoyed her trips with her son, Guy, and daughter in-law, Julie. Her special place, though, was the lake. Lori loved her camper, a shady tree, and the peace she gained from spending time in nature. Lori was proceeded in death by her mother, Nancy Moore; sister, Kelly Lowe; and grandparents, Rusty and Virginia Smothers. She is survived by her sons, Guy (Julie) Rutan and Bryan (Ashley) Rutan; grandsons, Harper and Coen Rutan; her special friend, Jeff Slaght; and her brother, Guy Ragsdale. Billie Pauline Christensen passed away at her home on November 28, 2021. Billie was born in La Crescenta, CA on March 21, 1943 to Paul and Grace Smith. The Smith family including her grandmother Lilly and her uncle Billy moved to Maywood, NE in 1946. Billie graduated from Maywood High School in 1961 and attended Manhattan Bible College before moving to Colorado in 1963. Billie moved back to Maywood in 2019 after her retirement. She had been working part time as a cook at Senior Living Choices in Curtis.&nbsp; Billie loved horses and was in several riding clubs growing up. Her life passions were quilting, cats, birds, flowers and her family. Billie worked at Red Lobster, JoAnns and Mountain Man while living in Colorado. Billie is survived by her son Dan Christensen of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Jessin (Ben) Bartlette-Vinci, Troi Christensen and Trysten Brown; great grandchildren Cady, Michael, Avery, Harper, Maryjane and Paisley; brother Dan (Karen) Smith of Maywood.

Cremation was chosen by Billie and services will be held at a later date in Colorado.

Kathleen (Kay) Grove 89, of Gothenburg, NE, passed away Nov. 29, 2021 at her home in Gothenburg. &nbsp; Kay is a loved and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.&nbsp; She relished the relationships with cousins and her pen-pal from her youth.&nbsp; Kay enjoyed having family for coffee and cookies; a tradition that was passed to her by her mother. She enjoyed her gardens, baking and cooking wonderful meals with family during the holidays and was proud of her Swedish roots, from which she pulled recipes and decorative styles in the holidays. &nbsp; Kay was caring and committed in her fields of education and nursing toward everyone she served.&nbsp;&nbsp; Kay was born on April 14, 1932 in Lexington, NE to Robert R. and Violet (Sylvan) Harrington.&nbsp; She grew up in Lexington and graduated from the Lexington School System.&nbsp; She attended Colorado Woman’s College from 1950-1951 and then Kearney State College from 1952-1958, where she earned her teaching certificate and was a member of Sigma Theta Phi.&nbsp; She was active in the United Methodist Church in Choir and as a Sunday School Teacher. &nbsp; Kay married William J. (Joe) Grove in June of 1958 at the United Methodist Church of Gothenburg. &nbsp; They relocated to Richardson, TX where they raised their children, until Joe’s death in February 1973.&nbsp; Kay and Joe were active in the First Christian Church.&nbsp; Kay then moved with her children back to Gothenburg and subsequently, Sutherland, NE, where she continued to raise them while teaching 3rd and 4th graders; a career that she loved. &nbsp; Kay returned to school in 1981, at the North Platte Vocational School, where she earned her Practical Nursing license.&nbsp; She worked in hospice care and later cared for both her mother and her father in their later years.&nbsp;&nbsp; Kay is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Grove and Linda Grove of Gothenburg, NE and son, William Grove of Knoxville, TN; Granddaughter and husband, Tasha and Shane Kruse, and children Levi, Gavin, Drayden, and KayLeeAnn Violet&nbsp;and Granddaughter and husband, Kady and Jesse Jacobs; and their children Dominic, Brett, Alaura, and Mac; Sister-in-law Margy Harrington of Loup City and their children, Dick, David, and Kirk and their families.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her husband, William J. Grove, her parents, Robert R. and Violet Sylvan Harrington, her brother, Robert E. Harrington, and her Nephew, Roger Harrington.&nbsp;&nbsp; Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 at 9:00 am – 11:00 am at Blasé-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp; Funeral Service will be held at at 11:00 am, on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 at Blasé-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE.
