Nebraska guard Keisei Tominaga had 17 points off the bench, as Japan rallied from an 18-point third-quarter deficit in a 98-88 victory over Finland Sunday morning in the FIBA World Cup.

Tominaga hit 6-of-9 shots, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, while adding three steals and two assists in 18:35 of playing time, posting a +17 in the minutes he played. Tominaga had 11 of his 17 points in the second half, as Japan outscored Finland 35-15 over the final 10 minutes of action to pick up their first-ever win over a European team in the FIBA World Cup.

With the win, Japan is now 1-1 in Group H and will play Australia for a chance to advance to the next round. That game is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:10 a.m. (central) and will be available on ESPN+.&nbsp; Japan and Australia are both 1-1 in Group H following Sunday’s results, while Germany leads the group with a 2-0 record.

Tominaga is 11 points per game on 63 percent shooting, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, in Japan’s two contests.

Trailing 71-53 with 2:36 left in the third quarter, Tominaga, who hit a pair of 3-points in the first half, sparked the comeback with five straight points as Japan cut the lead to 10 at the end of the third quarter.&nbsp; He played throughout the fourth quarter.

Tominaga became the second member of his family to play in the World Cup, as his father,&nbsp;Hiroyuki, represented Japan at the 1998 FIBA World Championship in Greece. The event was eventually renamed the FIBA World Cup. &nbsp;Tominaga is the fourth Husker to participate in the FIBA World Cup, joining Tai Webster (2014 and 2019), Jorge Brian Diaz (2014 and 2019) and Bill Johnson, who won a gold medal with the United States in 1954.

Tominaga helps Japan to win over finland at FIBA World Cup

The Nebraska volleyball team moved to 3-0 after a 25-16, 25-23, 25-16 sweep of SMU in front of a crowd of 8,311 on Sunday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers kept their opponent under a .100 hitting percentage for the third straight match, as the Mustangs (1-2) hit .045. Nebraska hit .144 with 38 kills and 22 errors, but outserved SMU with a 4-1 edge in aces and a six fewer service errors. Nebraska had four more blocks (11-7) and 19 more digs (60-41).&nbsp;

Harper Murray led Nebraska with 14 kills with a .310 hitting percentage. She also had 10 digs and was named the most outstanding player of the tournament. Merritt Beason added eight kills and eight digs, and Bekka Allick chipped in seven kills and four blocks.&nbsp;

Andi Jackson had five kills and seven blocks, while Lindsay Krause had three kills and five blocks.&nbsp;

Bergen Reilly posted 29 assists and nine digs, and Lexi Rodriguez notched 14 digs and two service aces. Rodriguez was also named to the All-Tournament Team, along with Laney Choboy, who had seven digs on Sunday.&nbsp;

The Huskers had 38 kills to SMU's 25 and outdug the Mustangs 60-41.

Set 1: The Huskers went on the first run of the game behind two aces from Rodriguez to take a 6-3 lead. SMU got to within one point before Allick and Murray notched two kills each as NU went on a 10-2 run to make the score 18-9. Nebraska rattled off six straight points to get to set point at 24-10 before the Mustangs went on a 6-0 run of their own. The Huskers closed out the set on Murray’s eighth kill of the set to win 25-16.

Set 2: The teams traded points for the first half of the second set. NU scored two straight heading into the media timeout, part of a 5-0 run that gave the Huskers a 17-13 advantage. Kills by Krause and Jackson helped the Huskers make the score 20-15. SMU fought back and cut NU's lead to 23-22 before a Krause kill took the Huskers to set point. With NU clinging to a 24-23 lead, Jackson and Krause ended the set with a block to give Nebraska a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Set 3: The Huskers started quickly in the third set, notching three blocks in the first four points to grab a 4-1 lead. Behind kills from Allick and Krause, NU brought the advantage to 7-2 and forced a Mustang timeout. Murray had two kills and Beason had one in a 4-0 Husker run later in the set that made it 16-7, and the Big Red never looked back. NU pulled away to a 25-16 win for a perfect three sweeps in three matches to start the season.&nbsp;

Huskers finish Ameritas Players Challenge with sweep of SMU

Senior forward Eleanor Dale scored twice in the first half as the Nebraska soccer team topped Gonzaga 3-1 at Luger Field on Sunday.

With the victory, the Huskers (3-0-1) wrap up their trip West with two road wins and a combined nine goals in just two games. Additionally, senior goalie Sami Hauk tallied six saves in her 14th career victory and third of the season.

For the second-straight game, senior defender Nicola Hauk tallied a score as she found the back of the net in the second minute of the game. From inside the penalty box, Sarah Weber gathered the corner kick from Lauryn Anglim and headed the ball into the goal box, which was gathered and shot by Hauk for the score.

In the 23rd minute, Dale scored the game-winner and her first goal of the match as she gathered the errant Gonzaga (3-1-0) pass in the Bulldog backfield, dribbled and punched the ball into the top right corner of the net.

Dale then extended the Husker lead to 3-0 in the 38th minute as she scored again. Hauk dribbled across midfield and shot a pass down the pitch to Maggie Altman. Altman gathered and passed the ball to Dale who sent a sliding shot past the Gonzaga goalie. This finish marked Dale’s 20th career goal and fourth of the year.

Despite the Bulldogs outshooting Nebraska by an 8-5 margin, the Huskers held Gonzaga scoreless in the first 45 minutes and took the three-score advantage into the break.

In the second half, Gonzaga fought back with a goal in the 64th minute by Kate Doyle, but the Huskers were able to hold on and grab the 3-1 victory.

Overall, the Bulldogs held the advantage in shots (17-10) and shots on goal (7-5), but NU led in saves (6-1).

Up next, the Huskers host Missouri on Thursday, Aug. 31 at Hibner Stadium before hitting the road for a match against Kansas State on Sunday, Sept. 3 in Manhattan, Kan.

Both Nebraska Kearney cross country teams have been picked second in the 2023 MIAA preseason coaches’ polls (<a href="https://themiaa.com/news/2023/8/25/miaa-releases-2023-miaa-womens-cross-country-preseason-poll.aspx" target="_blank">women</a>&nbsp;…&nbsp;<a href="https://themiaa.com/news/2023/8/25/miaa-releases-2023-mens-cross-country-preseason-poll.aspx" target="_blank">men</a>).

The league’s head coaches (11 men and 13 women) vote on the makeup of the poll and cannot vote for their own team.

The UNK women, fresh off its’ first-ever NCAA Championships appearance, garnered 130 points and one first place vote. Pittsburg State (139 points, 10 first place) is the favorite with Northwest Missouri ranked third (115).

Last fall, the Lopers were second at the MIAA Championships, fourth at NCAA Central Regionals and 22nd&nbsp;at the NCAA meet in Seattle. Pitt is the defending league champ.

Redshirt junior&nbsp;Grace Bonsall&nbsp;(Kearney) and junior&nbsp;Mara Hemmer&nbsp;(Fremont) lead the way as both earned 2022 All-MIAA honors. Junior&nbsp;Jordan Soto-Stopak&nbsp;(Albion) and sophomore&nbsp;Lexi Liess&nbsp;(Overland Park, Kan.) joined them at nationals last December.

The men were nationally-ranked throughout the 2022 season and finished 22nd&nbsp;at the NCAA’s. They were runners up at both regionals and conference with Missouri Southern the defending MIAA Champ.

UNK tallied 88 points and three first place nods with MSSU (96 points, seven first place) just ahead. Pittsburg State (83) is a close third.

Head coach&nbsp;Brady Bonsall&nbsp;has two returning All-Region qualifiers in&nbsp;Myles Bach&nbsp;(Cedar Rapids, Ia.) and&nbsp;Brett Schoenhofer&nbsp;(Andover, Kan.). Fellow juniors&nbsp;Sam Lueders&nbsp;(Blair) and&nbsp;Payton Davis&nbsp;(David City) also were part of UNK’s seven runners at the national championships.

The Blue &amp; Gold heads to St. Joseph, Mo., next Friday night (Sept. 1) for the first-ever Griffon Twilight meet. The women run at 7 p.m. (5k) with the men going at 7:20 p.m. (6k).

Nebraska track and field head coach Justin St. Clair has announced the addition of Mike Bartolina as the new assistant coach working with pole vault.

Bartolina comes from Illinois State, where he served as an assistant coach over pole vault and the horizontal jumps for two seasons.

Through 24 years of coaching experience at the Division I level, Bartolina has coached 13 athletes to All-America honors and over 50 qualifiers to the NCAA Preliminary Championships.

“Mike is a well-established coach and mentor with a long history of success,” St. Clair said. “We are excited to have him join our program and look forward to welcoming him and his family to Lincoln.”

Prior to his time at Illinois State, Bartolina spent two years at Louisiana Tech, coaching Denzel Harper to a C-USA Championship and All-America honors in the long jump.

From 2016-2018, Bartolina coached at the University of Alabama, highlighted by Lakan Taylor becoming Alabama’s first NCAA women’s pole vault champion in 2017. On the men’s team, he helped coach them to its first SEC Track and Field Championship in 46 years, while capturing the USTFCCCCA Men’s Program of the Year award.

Bartolina spent 2005-2016 as an assistant coach for Southeastern Louisiana University. The Lions captured a trio of Southland Conference Championships and a 13th-place men’s team finish at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships while Bartolina was coaching.

Bartolina took on a head coaching role at Ranger College from 1999-2000. His team collected two runner-up finishes at the 1999 NJCAA indoor and outdoor track and field championships and 16 athletes won NJCAA individual events throughout his head coaching stint.

On the national level, Bartolina has coached three Olympic-qualifying athletes, with multiple U.S. Olympic Trial qualifiers in the pole vault, long jump, javelin and decathlon.

Bartolina earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1992 and 1996, respectively. He was a pole vaulter on the track and field team from 1987-90.

The Storm has acquired a 2nd&nbsp;Round pick in the 2024 USHL Phase II Draft, and a 3rd&nbsp;Round pick in the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft from the Capitols in exchange for goaltender Patriks Bērziņš, and a 10th&nbsp;Round pick in the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft.

Patriks Bērziņš, 19, of Talsi, Latvia, was acquired by the Storm on January 18th, 2023, in a trade with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (NAHL). He made his debut for the organization on January 20th, 2023, in a 4-0 shutout victory on the road against the Omaha Lancers. Bērziņš turned away all nineteen of Omaha’s shots on net during the matchup to record his first career victory, and first career shutout, in the USHL. He finished the 2022-2023 regular season with a record of 11-3-1-1 in net for the Storm. Bērziņš posted a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 2.66, and a Save Percentage (SV%) of .890%. He stopped 332 of 373 shots faced during the 2022-2023 regular season.

Storm announces trade with Capitols

Nebraska offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield met with members of the media following Tuesday’s practice. Satterfield addressed the level of preparation before the season opener next week and his main takeaways from Saturday’s scrimmage.

“We need to improve on the focus and the energy,” Satterfield said. “We want to challenge them. We need to understand the urgency and the level of focus it takes to play well. We’ve had times where we play the ball well and we’ve had times where we’ve made a couple of issues.”

Satterfield discussed the offensive line and his personal observations this first week of classes, as well as practice.

“I’m proud of them,” he said. “They are one of the most consistent and hard-working groups on the offense. It’s very personal to those guys, and they continue to make strides to be better every day.”

He also spoke on his main takeaways from Saturday’s scrimmage.

“We went into it with a focus on the operational issues and the tempo; just getting in and out of the huddle or getting subs in,” Satterfield said. “We worked hard at fixing some of those issues, and it led to us playing freely and starting earlier.”

Satterfield also discussed the younger players and their improvement.

“They continue to get one percent better every day,” he said. “Now that we’re not installing anything anymore and we’re just focusing on the playbook, the guys are starting to play with confidence. “

Satterfield addressed the level of preparation before the season opener next week and his main takeaways from Saturday’s scrimmage.“We need to improve on the focus and the energy,” Satterfield said. “We want to challenge them. We need to understand the urgency and the level of focus it takes to play well. We’ve had times where we play the ball well and we’ve had times where we’ve made a couple of issues.”Satterfield discussed the offensive line and his personal observations this first week of classes, as well as practice.“I’m proud of them,” he said. “They are one of the most consistent and hard-working groups on the offense. It’s very personal to those guys, and they continue to make strides to be better every day.”He also spoke on his main takeaways from Saturday’s scrimmage.“We went into it with a focus on the operational issues and the tempo; just getting in and out of the huddle or getting subs in,” Satterfield said. “We worked hard at fixing some of those issues, and it led to us playing freely and starting earlier.”Satterfield also discussed the younger players and their improvement.“They continue to get one percent better every day,” he said. “Now that we’re not installing anything anymore and we’re just focusing on the playbook, the guys are starting to play with confidence. “The Huskers will return to the practice field on Wednesday as they prep for the season opener on Thursday, Aug. 31 at Minnesota.

Nebraska track and field announced 29 newcomers to its program for the 2023-24 season on Wednesday. &nbsp; This talented class represents 13 states and three countries, including eight transfers and 21 incoming freshmen. &nbsp;The 29-member class is made up of 62 state titles, four national titles and two world championships. &nbsp; Highlighting the class on the women’s side is Mine De Klerk, University of Oregon transfer and Welkom, South Africa-native. Nebraska Track and Field announces 2023-24 signees

Six Nebraska football players were named to the Senior Bowl Watch List, announced on Wednesday. Offensive linemen&nbsp;Bryce Benhart&nbsp;and&nbsp;Ben Scott, running back&nbsp;Anthony Grant, defensive back&nbsp;Quinton Newsome, linebacker&nbsp;Luke Reimer&nbsp;and defensive lineman&nbsp;Ty Robinson&nbsp;each earned a spot on the watch list.

The 2024 Senior Bowl will be held on Feb. 3, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama. Elite draft prospects from around the country are selected to showcase their talent at the Senior Bowl and connect with coaches and decision-makers from all 32 NFL teams.

Benhart has started 29 games at right tackle for the Big Red over the past three seasons. In addition to being the most seasoned offensive lineman on the Husker roster, Benhart has also excelled in the classroom as a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Scott landed on his second watch list of the preseason, as he was also named to the Rimington Trophy watch list. Scott is a transfer from Arizona State, where he started 28 games the last three years. He has proven to be a versatile offensive lineman with multiple starts at right tackle (17 starts) and center (11 starts).

Grant led Nebraska in rushing in his first season in a Husker uniform in 2022. He carried 218 times for 915 yards and six touchdowns last fall. Grant’s 915 rushing yards were the most by a Husker in four seasons, and he produced five 100-yard rushing performances while also catching 18 passes. He was an honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection in 2022.

Newsome has started every game at cornerback the past two seasons, carrying a streak of 24 consecutive starts into the 2023 campaign. He has totaled 101 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and 14 pass breakups the last two years. Newsome is one of the top returning cornerbacks in the Big Ten, as he earned honorable-mention all-conference accolades last season.

Reimer is the Big Ten’s active career leader with 245 tackles over his first four seasons. He has started each of the 22 games he’s played over the last two years, totaling 194 tackles during that stretch. A 2022 honorable-mention All-Big Ten pick, Reimer averages nearly nine tackles per game in his 27 career starts with 15.5 TFLs, 4.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, 11 pass breakups and a pair of interceptions.

Robinson has started 23 games in his career, including every game last season. He has recorded 51 tackles the past two seasons with 8.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks and a pair of pass breakups. Robinson was Nebraska’s co-Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2022.

The North Platte Community College volleyball team fell in three sets to the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen Tuesday evening in the Knights’ first home match of the season.

The Knights started the game off with confidence and high energy and initially took the lead. They stayed neck and neck with the Plainswomen – separated by just a point or two – for the beginning of the first set.

NJC eventually pulled ahead 8-7 and continued to run, extending their lead 17-9. North Platte attempted a comeback but couldn’t close the gap entirely and fell 25-16 in the opening frame.

The Plainswomen jumped out almost immediately to a five-point lead in set two. The Knights were unable to erase a 15-point deficit by the end of the frame, and ultimately fell 25-10.

NJC also grabbed the lead early in the third set – rattling off a quick 6-0 run. NPCC scored its first point of the game thanks to a kill by Emily Johnson. It wasn’t enough to quell Northeastern’s momentum, however, and the Plainswomen surged ahead to a 12-point advantage. NJC took the set 25-12.

“That was a tough team for us to play, and I thought our youth really showed tonight,” said NPCC volleyball head coach Alexa McCall. “We have a lot of season left, but we have to be able to make some changes and play with more confidence.”

The Knights will have a chance to make a comeback later in the week. They will travel to La Junta, Colo. for a weekend tournament hosted by Otero Junior College.

NPCC plays Barton Community College at 11 a.m. Friday and will follow that up with a match against Eastern Wyoming College at 6 p.m.

The eighth and final Bill Marshall Volleyball Classic will be on Saturday, Aug. 26, during the opening weekend of the Nebraska State Fair.

Nineteen high schools from around the state are expected to play, including local teams Grand Island Central Catholic and Northwest High School. Games will take place in the Heartland Events Center.

The Bill Marshall Volleyball Classic attracts fans from every corner of the state to see their teams in action. Nearly 450 athletes will participate this year.

“My late husband would be thrilled that the event has grown and continued to attract people to the Nebraska State Fair,” Sharon Marshall said. “He loved the Nebraska State Fair, volleyball and seeing youth participate in sports. He would be so pleased that the Bill Marshall Volleyball Classic has continued to be a part of the fair.”

Bill Marshall was a Nebraska State Fair board member, businessman and community steward.

The event was created in memory of Bill Marshall, founder of Five Points Bank. Spectators will need to pay admission to enter the Nebraska State Fair, but there is no admission fee to enter the Heartland Events Center for the volleyball classic.

Two members of the Nebraska track and field team are set to compete at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, hosted at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary from Aug. 19-27.

Rhema Otabor will represent the Bahamas in the javelin on Aug. 23 and Axelina Johansson will throw the shot put for Sweden on Aug. 26.

Otabor enters the meet ranked 26th in the world. Over the summer, Otabor won the Bahamian National Championship with the second-best javelin mark in school history, 196-0 (59.75m). The Nebraska junior added another gold at the NACAC U23 Championship, hitting a meet record throw (57.48m).

Johansson is currently No. 13 in the shot put world ranking. She capped off her sophomore season with an NCAA title, throwing for 63-3 1/4 (19.28m). At the Big Ten Championships, Johansson topped the school record book with a mark of 64-1 1/4 (19.54m).

The Nebraska women’s tennis program announced the addition of Arkansas State transfer Maja Pietrowicz on Monday. Pietrowicz will join the Huskers for the 2023-24 season as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.&nbsp;

“I’m very excited to welcome Maja to Nebraska,” Coach Delmagro said. “I have known and seen Maja play for a few years now since we faced each other while she competed at MSU. She’s always been a very fierce competitor and a hard worker. She will be a perfect fit here with her commitment, discipline and passion to compete at a high level. She will make an immediate impact in our program and in the Big Ten. I’m very thankful she has trusted me to be her next coach to help her finish her college career.”

In advance of the 2023-24 season, Pietrowicz transferred to Arkansas State after four seasons at Michigan State. The Clinton Township, Mich., native then announced her move to Nebraska to join Delmagro’s squad.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“I am extremely excited to become part of the Husker family,” Pietrowicz said. “To have the opportunity to return to the Big Ten is something I had never imagined and is a dream come true. I couldn’t have asked to join a better program that fits me both athletically and academically. With the leadership of German and Maddie, as well as the support from such an incredible team, I have a feeling this will be my best year yet. Go Big Red!”&nbsp;

During the 2022-2023 season, Pietrowicz was 12-15 in singles and 14-15 in doubles play in 13 of 29 doubles matches playing at the No.1 doubles spot. Along with her doubles partner, Mary Lewis, the former Spartan duo held a 2-1 record against nationally ranked doubles opponents. The pair played at the ITA All-American and ITA Fall Championships and reached a season-high ranking of No. 28.

In 2020-21, Pietrowicz held a 7-6 record and had a winning record in both the No. 3 (2-1) and No. 4 (5-4) spots. She also had a 8-5 record in doubles play and a 7-3 record in conference competition. In her sophomore season, she was 12-6 in singles and 12-10 in doubles. Additionally, during her freshman campaign, she composed a 14-12 singles record and a 18-11 mark.

Off of the court, Pietrowicz was a four-time letterwinner at Michigan State and a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.

Huskers Tennis add transfer Maja Pietrowicz

The North Platte Community College volleyball team lost a second doubleheader at the MCC Tourney in McCook Saturday. Barton Community College and Otero College both swept the Knights in three sets.

North Platte took on Barton first. Vanessa Wood and Jaelyn Dicke each put down eight kills in that match. Elsie Ottun went for 10 digs. Avah Steggall and Aubrey Grant contributed 11 and nine assists, respectively, and Emily Johnson made five blocks.

The set scores were: 22-25, 15-25 and 20-25.

The Otero match resulted in final scores of: 20-25, 21-25 and 21-25.

Wood had eight kills against the Rattlers. Dicke came through with seven kills and 10 digs. EmiLee Walnofer also finished with 10 digs while Shamia Grandison and Samantha Riggles each tallied three blocks.

“We are keeping sets close and just have to work toward that next step of finishing them,” said NPCC volleyball head coach Alexa McCall. “We are looking for the right combination of players to get us there and have to take advantage of every time we step on the floor. We have some tough games coming up this week and will continue to work on these things and grow.”

The Knights will be home for their next game. They will face off with Northeastern Junior College at 7 p.m. in the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Nebraska volleyball team began its 2023 season with its annual Red-White intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday night in front of 8,035 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Red team won the tightly contested match, 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 27-25).&nbsp;

Points in the match were even at 96-96, and White nearly took it to a fifth set after charging back from a 19-6 deficit in set four to force a deuce game.&nbsp;

Harper Murray and Merritt Beason each had 13 kills to lead Red. They also had 12 and 11 digs, respectively. Ally Batenhorst had eight kills and 10 digs.

For White, Lindsay Krause led the attack with 16 kills and added eight digs. She also had four service aces and four blocks. Hayden Kubik added 13 kills and nine digs, and Caroline Jurevicius finished with five kills and four blocks and a pair of aces.&nbsp;

The three middle blockers rotated teams. Bekka Allick finished with 10 kills and seven blocks. Andi Jackson had 10 kills and six blocks with a .438 hitting percentage. And Maggie Mendelson contributed six kills and four blocks.&nbsp;

Bergen Reilly set the Red team with 36 assists, 16 digs and four service aces. Kennedi Orr had 29 assists for White with eight digs and four kills.&nbsp;

Lexi Rodriguez, the Red libero, had 18 digs. Laney Choboy had 19 digs for White, while Maisie Boesiger had 13.&nbsp;

White outhit Red, .171 to .141, and had an 11.5 to 7.0 advantage in blocks.&nbsp;

Set 1: Red gained separation from a 9-9 tie with a 4-0 spurt off of a block by Batenhorst and Mendelson and back-to-back kills by Batenhorst before one by Mendelson. White fought back to tie it 15-15 with a kill by Orr and a block by the junior setter with Allick. Back-to-back kills by Krause put White in front, 18-17, but Red came back with three points in a row, including a kill by Beason that made it 20-18. A block by Beason and Jackson pushed the lead to three, 23-20, and Beason earned set point at 24-21 with a kill. Krause connected and Kubik rolled a kill to the floor to cut it to 24-23, but Jackson finished the set with a kill and a 25-23 win. Red hit .273 while White hit .190.&nbsp;

After a timeout, White went on a 5-0 run to go up 23-22. Krause and Kubik had kills, and Red committed three straight attacking errors. But three straight errors by White gave Red the set, 25-23. Red outhit White .125 to .054 in the set.&nbsp;Set 3: The score was tied 8-8, but White went on an 8-3 run to take a 16-11 lead. Jurevicius had a kill and a block, and Krause had a pair of kills. Jackson contributed two blocks and a kill as White went up 17-12. Kubik put down back-to-back kills for a 19-14 White lead, and White claimed set point at 24-18 on Krause's fourth ace of the night. White claimed the 25-19 win.&nbsp;Set 4: Kills by Jackson and Beason and an ace by Rodriguez put Red up 5-0 to start the set. Jackson and Murray teamed up for a block as Red built its lead to 9-2. Red pulled away to a 13-point lead at 19-6. But White went on a 9-0 run to get within 19-15. Allick led the way with two kills and three blocks, and Jurevicius had a kill and two blocks. After Mendelson earned Red a sideout, Krause posted her 14th and 15th kills to cut it to 20-18, but Jackson answered and Red pushed the lead to 22-18. White would not go away, however, as Krause connected again and Jurevicius served an ace to get within 22-20. Allick added another kill as White cut the lead down to one, 23-22. After a timeout, Murray won a battle at the net to earn match point, but Hayden Kubik struck for back-to-back-to-back kills to put White up 25-24, the last of which came after Choboy dove to save an attack from Reilly. After a White attack just landed out of bounds, Reilly served an ace for a 26-25 match point and followed with another ace for the winning point, 27-25.&nbsp;
