 Jerry Dean Shackelford, of Trenton, passed away at home on February 14, 2022 at the age of 62.  Jerry was born in McCook, Nebraska on August 15, 1959, to Virgil Dean and Wyona (Matson) Shackelford.   He graduated from Trenton High School in 1977 and from North Platte Community College, where he studied automotive body and fender repair. 
   Jerry followed the call of the Holy Spirit and moved to Beverly, Kentucky to work at the Red Bird Mission for three years. The Mission was established to help families in southeastern Kentucky with health care needs and spiritual guidance.  He returned to Trenton and opened his own autobody repair shop. He also taught autobody repair classes part-time at North Platte Community College. Jerry and his mother took the EMT course together and served on the Trenton Rescue Squad. He was community minded, serving on the board of the United Methodist Church and acting as security for the pastor at the church on occasion. He earned a black belt in Taekwondo and was a member of the NRA.  Jerry was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting deer.  His Rottweiler, Dolly, who he enjoyed spending time with, will miss him dearly.  

   Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Dean Shackelford; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his brother-in-law, Spencer Sydow; and a great-nephew, Jared Chitwood. 
   Survivors include his mother, Wyona Shackelford of Trenton; four sisters: Barbara Sydow of Stratton, Cynthia (Dave) Engel of Silver Creek, Nebraska, and Diane Riggs of Trenton, Nancy (John) Thomas of Aurora, Nebraska; nieces and nephews: Brian (Melissa) Sydow, Jennifer (Brad) Fries, Kody (Alyssa) Sydow, Laurie Poppert, Tyrel (Lacy) Riggs, Orrin (Terra) Riggs, Nathaniel (Emma Smith) Chitwood, Michael (Jacquelyn) Chitwood, John (Aleta) Thomas; and other family members and friends.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Monday, February 21st, 2022  at  11:00 AM  at First United Methodist Church in Trenton, Nebraska with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating.
Interment will follow at Trenton Cemetery.
