NPCC hosted Southeast Community College Wednesday night and lost in 5 sets.
Set one started neck and neck until the Knights took the lead and won 25-21.
SCC won the first point of set two. The Knights fought back and doubled the score to 8-4. NPCC kept the lead and won set two at 25-17.
Set three started back and forth. SCC brought the score to a tie and took the lead with 8-9. The Knights brought the score back to a tie and took the lead at 10-9. SCC fought back again and took the lead to win the set with a score of 18-25.
SCC took the first point in set four. After a back-and-forth of service errors, SCC took the lead and won the set with a score of 15-25.
Set five saw a back and forth between the two teams. SCC took the lead at 9-10 and kept it to take the win at 10-15.
Sophomore Morgan Ramsey led the game with 16 kills and four aces, followed by Freshman Tyrah Woods with 12 kills. Freshmen Whitney Chintala and Amauri Browning contributed 26 and 18 digs respectively.
This puts the Knights at 6-14 overall and 0-2 conference on the season. SCC is now 5-18 overall and 1-2 conference.
Up next: The Knights will be at home again this weekend hosting the NPCC Triangular. They will face Otero College at 11 a.m. and Northeast Community College at 3 p.m. in the McDonald-Belton Gym. The Knights will rematch SCC on Oct. 6 in Beatrice, Neb.
