NPPD arrest man on numerous drug related charges

On September 25th, 2023, at 8:09 pm, officers were on patrol near the area of Newberry Rd and E Philip Ave when they observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Newberry at a speed of 56 mph in a 40-mph zone.

Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, making contact with the driver, 34-year-old Michael Olson. During the stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked Olson to step out.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and officers located 21 vacuum sealed bags of marijuana weighing 23.88 lbs, 8.99 lbs of wax, 2.79 lbs of Psylocibin mushrooms, multiple scheduled pills, and nonscheduled, prescription only pills inside of the vehicle. Officers also located over $310 split into smaller denominations and held together with a rubber band.

With probable cause established, Olson was taken into custody without issue. Olson was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center for the Charges of Distribution of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, Distribution of a Controlled Substance-Psilocybin Mushroom, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1,2,3, Possession of a Controlled Substance 4,5, Possession of Money While in Violation of a Drug Offense, Possession of a Legend Drug.
