Eagle welcomes new News Director

NORTH PLATTE, Neb - Eagle Communications in North Platte and Ogallala are happy to announce the hiring of Canon Rath as new News Director for the North Platte Post, and it's 5 area radio stations. Rath was born and raised in Kearney where he graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in the May of 2023 as a double major in Sports Communication and Sports Management.

Canon got his start in radio his freshman year in college when he joined Platte River Radio as a board op and producer. He would regularly produce the Doug and Daddy Show, studio engineering many sporting events, and more. Rath also hosted the "Rutts and Rivals Scoreboard Show" for two years. After a 2 year stint, Canon would join KRGI as a color analyst announcer for the St. Paul Wildcats football team. During his 5 year stint at UNK, Rath was heavily involved with KLPR, the student run radio station. He has been nominated many times at the national level for his work for Loper Athletic broadcast and the longest student running show “Throwin Lopes” where he created it with fellow student Grant Tighe in 2020.

Canon enjoys spending his days on the golf course with his grandpa during the warm weather season. He also enjoys spending time going on walks. Canon is also very active in America's fastest growing sport of Pickleball. North Platte is not new to Canon where he spent half of his summer in 2022 as part of the first ever North Platte Plainsmen season where he served as the in-game promotions/stadium operation intern.
