Edward Galen Johnson, 70, of North Platte passed away November 28, 2022 as the result of an automobile accident caused by a medical condition.
Ed was born July 13, 1952 to Bud and Barb (Loftus) Johnson in North Platte. He attended North Platte Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1970. He started working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist right out of high school, retiring in 2015 after a 43-year career.
One of his biggest blessings in life was the birth of his children, Julie and Tony. Ed loved Julie and Tony and would do anything for them. He supported them in all things, even if it included MMA.
On Feb 14, 1999 Ed married the love of his life, Pam and gained another son, Jason. Pam and Ed spent the next 23 years making a family together. He loved all types of music, his church and church family and his love of cars and racing. He and Pam drove millions of miles for cars, trailers and even an ashtray, or just to have lunch in Estes Park.
His next biggest blessing were his 11 grandchildren. Never missing an opportunity for all of their events including coaching Corey’s little league games, softball or pee wee football. He enjoyed hunting, dance recitals, the duck blind, swimming, soccer and any events the grandchildren were involved in. He always had his ‘grandpa talks’ with all of the family as he was very proud of all of us and wanted the best for each of his family
members.
8 months ago, Everly and Ryker gave him the privilege of the name great grandpa and he loved them dearly.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Ed is survived by his wife Pam; children Julie (Ben) Miller, Whitney (Jacob Harvey) Ryker and Everly Harvey, Natalie, Tobye, Corey, Lexi, Felicity Miller; Tony (Katharine), Ava and Kendil Johnson; Jason (Gina) Sommer and Janie.
