Dee Mcatee, beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away on January 28, 2023 at 61 years old. She was born December 18,1961 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Callaway and Patricia Dunne. She grew up in Chicago, though lived in Colorado and Oregon prior to settling down in Ogallala, Nebraska in 2002.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents and her daughters, Sandy and Jeannie. She is survived by her sons, David and Robert, her daughter, Chrissy, her grandchildren, Amanda, Jon, Tommy, Robby, Chloe, Caiden, Korbin, and Hunter, and great-granddaughter, Marley.
Dee loved the outdoors, with one of her favorite activities being to fish in the summer. She loved feeding the birds and squirrels, watching the kids play outside and would often host BBQs. She loved to cook and feed everyone - the whole neighborhood! The 4th of July was her favorite holiday and she would gather with her entire family, friends, and neighbors to light off and watch the fireworks. It was a big event every year.
Dee was smart, kind, beautiful and hilarious. She loved to joke around with others and was always very ornery and sarcastic. She had the biggest heart and would help anyone. She often would put herself out to make sure others had what they needed. She loved her family more than anything and she lived a beautiful life. The family is at peace knowing Dee's parents, Tom and Pat, and two daughters, Sandy and Jeannie welcomed her at Heaven's Gate and that she is happy and no longer in pain. She will be missed very much.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm at the Hope Baptist Church on 2/12/2023. 400 N Prairie Trace Rd, Sutherland, NE 69165
