NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-Three weeks into the 2020 football season, the North Platte High School football team is seeing their schedule impacted by COVID-19 for the first time.
The NPHS Activities Department announced Wednesday afternoon that a Kearney High School football player had tested positive for COVID-19. Kearney was slated to visit Bauer Field this Friday, September 11, for a rivalry matchup, but that is now a no-go.
School officials say they are looking at potential options for a replacement game, but no official decisions have been made at this time.
The Bulldogs are off to their first 2-0 start since the 2015 season.
NPHS is scheduled to travel to Lincoln next week (September 18) to take on Lincoln Northstar at Seacrest Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m with live coverage on-air at FM 98.1 and live video streaming at www.northplattepost.com.
