
Jerry L. Chrisp, 81 passed October, 21, 2022, at Linden Court, North Platte Nebraska. He was born June 13, 1941 in Custer County, Nebraska, the son of Carl and Thelma (Glendy) Chrisp.
Jerry attended Broken Bow High school graduating in 1959, where he lettered in band, and was active in 4-H and FFA. He attended Kearney State College receiving his Teaching Degree in Music. Jerry was known for his perfect pitch and played the tuba through his college years.
After graduating, Jerry taught in several schools, including Dix and Callaway, NE, and Sheridan, and Pindale, WY, and also tuned pianos. Jerry enjoyed all of his summer vacations as much as the students, and was known to leave as soon as school was out, to travel with his
good friend Ed Howard. They traveled as far west and east as they could go, and also into Mexico and Canada. After ending his teaching career, he returned to help at the family Farm in Broken Bow, later purchasing his own place outside of Sargent, Nebraska where he raised cows and had a dairy quality alfalfa operation. Jerry enjoyed his coffee groups and could strike up conversations wherever he was. After taking up square dancing, he met and married Carol (Benzen) Gordon in 1993, they continued to live in Sargent until moving to North Platte. After his wife’s passing Jerry resided in Hershey, Nebraska.
Jerry is survived by, step-children Tim Gordon, Oakland AR, and Polly (Gordon) Dimmitt, Pierre, SD, grandchildren Brenna and Gracie Dimmitt of Pierre, SD, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and grand nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clarence Chrisp, sisters, Imogene Regorrah, and June Stone and his wife Carol (Benzen) Chrisp, and numerous members of his coffee crews.
There will be a graveside service on July 8th, 2023 at 10:30 am at Ash Hollow Cemetery, Lewellen Nebraska, officiated by Pastor Park.
