Gary L. Dimmitt, aka “Baldy,” “Curly,” 74, of North Platte, passed away October 10, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Gary was born September 1, 1947 to Otis Jay and Alice Lavone (Brasser) Dimmitt, in Ord, Nebraska.
Gary grew up in Crofton, Nebraska.  He worked on the family farm and a local gas station.  On July 4, 1966 he married Ellen Powell in Taylor, Nebraska.  They moved to North Platte where Gary worked for Fairmont Dairy, Coca-Cola and then hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad as a carman.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and BBQ with his family.  Family was the center of his life, especially his grandchildren. 
Gary is survived by his wife, Ellen of North Platte; children, Thomas Dimmitt, Terri (Marty) Calhoun, Tara Woodcock,  and Timothy (Casey) Dimmitt, all of North Platte, Tracey (Robin) Dimmitt, Stapleton; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 on the way; along with numerous other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Lavone Dimmitt; siblings, Bud Dimmitt, Ed Dimmitt, Donita Beed, Linda Evans; and son-in-law, Jim Woodcock.
A memorial has been established in Gary’s memory.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 22, 2021 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Rinke officiating.  Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be noon – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21.
