Rachel Rebecca Rivera, 83, of North Platte, passed away May 16, 2023 at Great Plains Health. She was born December 17, 1939 to Bruno and Maria (Hurtado) Martinez in North Platte.
Rachel graduated from Whittier High School in California and returned to North Platte to care for her mother. She married Frank Rivera on June 23, 1962 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Rachel worked at Nebraska Machinery for some time. When Holy Spirit Catholic Church opened, she became the secretary under Father Nelson. She remained in that position, “training” many priests through the years.
Rachel enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very well dressed and loved high heels.
Survivors include sons, Christopher (Mailei North) Rivera, of North Platte, Patrick (Lora) Rivera of California; grandchildren, Taylor Rivera of North Platte, Anthony Rivera of California, Daniel Rivera of California; great granddaughter, Olivia Rivera of Virginia; sister, Alice (John) Cabrera of North Platte; numerous other family members and many friends.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Bruno and Maria; husband, Frank.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Reverend Vidya Sagar Arikotla as Celebrant and Reverend Art Faesser as Con Celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Christian Wake Service will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation will be held noon-5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2033 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
