June Powers, 97, passed away, October 23, 2021 in North Platte, Nebraska. June was born July 30, 1924 at the family home near Yuma, Colorado to Walter and Alice (Pesch) Stevenson.
The family moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado when she was 2 years old.  Then, when she was 12 years old, they moved to Sutherland, Nebraska.  She graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1942.  In 1943, she began working for the weather bureau at the airport.  After 15 years, she resigned when her first daughter was born.  She joined the First Presbyterian Church in 1947 and has been a member since.  She enjoyed playing pinochle with friends and enjoyed the quilting group at the church.  In 1954, she married Lawrence “Gus” Powers. They celebrated 54 years together.  Gus passed away in December 2008.
June is survived by her daughters; Vickie Kroll, Phoenix, Arizona, Pamela (Mark) Tillman, North Platte, Nebraska and Lynn (Tony) Saeger, Lincoln, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren, Brett Kroll, Seattle, Washington, Bryce Kroll, Phoenix, Arizona, Taylor Tillman, Omaha, Nebraska, Trevor Tillman, Lincoln, Nebraska and Brianna (Alex) Beasley, Vancouver, Washington, and Ashlyn Saeger, Omaha, Nebraska; 1 great-grandchild, John Alexander Beasley; 1 sister, Jean Shimmin, Arnold, Nebraska; along with several nieces and nephews. 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Alice Stevenson; husband, Lawrence; brother, Robert Stevenson; sisters, Hetty Goedert, Susie Zimmerman, Ella Green, Margaret Newtson and Clarice Rosentrater.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church North Platte with Pastor Emily McCreery officiating.  Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.  Visitation will be noon – 7, Wednesday, October 27, with family receiving friends from 5-7, at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements.
