
Long time resident of Palisade, Nebraksa, Karen K. Steinbeck, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 in McCook, Nebraska. Karen was 80 years of age.
Karen Karrleen Steinbeck was born on October 24, 1940 at Palisade, Nebraska to Francis M. and Mildred O. (Weston) Andrew. As a youngster, she grew up and attended school in Palisade, graduating from Palisade High School in 1958.
On January 11, 1960, she married Duane 'Pete' Steinbeck in Benkelman, Nebraska. They lived and farmed south of Wauneta, Nebraska. In 1997, the couple moved to Kearney, Nebraska. Pete retired in 1991 and he and Karen moved to Republican City, Nebraska. Due to Pete's health, the couple moved back to Southwest Nebraska and Karen made Palisade her home.
Karen was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, and the Eagles. She enjoyed cross stitching and watching wrestling on television.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Hinrichsen (Alex) of Elm Creek, Nebraska and Denise Carfield (Darin) of McCook, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Joshua Bailey, Brooke Nunns, Nesha Rose, Ariel Forbes, and Trista Curl; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Taylor, Kennedy, and Brock Bailey, Tren Nunns, Samira Gable, Hayes Rose, and Adelynn Curl; brothers James Andrew of Palisade, Nebraska and Albert Andrew (Janette) of North Platte, Nebraska; and her sister-in-law, Bernita Conklin of Topeka, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane 'Pete' Steinbeck; siblings Kay, Ivan and Sharon; and a son-in-law, Thomas Bailey.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Central Time at the Palisade Cemetery in Palisade, Nebraska with Randy Hayes officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020 before the services, starting at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time at Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta, Nebraska.
A memorial has been suggested to the Steinbeck Family for a future designation.
