Adonna Marie Sis, age 85, passed away surrounded by her family on June 15, 2024, at her home in McCook, NE.

Adonna was born on April 20, 1939, in Damar, KS to parents Simon and Aldea M (Plante) Arnold. She attended school in Leoville, KS and transferred to Colby, KS for her senior year, and graduated with the 1957 class.

Adonna nourished others with her faith and food. She was loved in the community for her baking, cooking, and canning skills. Carrying on traditions was very important to Adonna.

There was no mountain too high for Adonna to climb.

Adonna’s calling in life was to take care of everyone and anything from her family and friends to her flowers and garden that were abundantly planted throughout her yard, her flowers even adorned the altar of the Lord from time to time.

Adonna’s love of all God’s creation was shared with all those who knew her. Adonna was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society.

The rosary wasn’t just a prayer, it was a daily expression of Adonna’s love, faith, and devotion to Our Lady and Christ. The love and caring of Ronald, her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and everyone she knew, felt God’s love radiating from Adonna.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Lee Don Scott; grandson, Nathan Sis; sister, Darline Hutfles; and brother, Charles Arnold.

Adonna is survived by her husband, Ronald Sis of McCook, NE; children, Michael (Cathy) Sis of Bellevue, NE, Melanie Scott of Oberlin, KS, Melissa (Keith) Prohaska of Columbus, NE, Martin (Denise) Sis of McCook, NE, Mitchell (Dee) Sis of McCook, NE, Marshell (Tracey) Sis of McCook, NE; 24 grandkids; 44 great-grandkids and one on the way; and numerous extended family and friends.
