Dennis Lee Shannon, 67, of North Platte, NE passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Bryan East in Lincoln.
He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 21, 1954 the son of Terry E. and Madeline Irene (Smith) Shannon.
Dennis graduated from Sutherland High School and was married to Kathy Stark in 1973 in North Platte. From this union two children were born. Following the dissolving of this marriage he was married in later years to Colleen Whyte. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in his early years, and later worked for ESS Corporation in Ft. Collins and Rifle, CO. He retired from Empire Farms in Reno, NV. Dennis enjoyed playing on pool leagues, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish Dennis’s memory are his son, Jason Shannon of Granby, CO; daughter, Becky (Josh) Pfannkuch of North Platte; brother, Gary (Connie) Shannon of North Platte; sisters, Jackie (Mike) Brouillette, Rhonda Bohlen, and Cyndi Greene all of North Platte; grandchildren, Kayla Shannon, MacKenzie Shannon, Jacob Staats, Tyler Staats, and Josiah Pfannkuch; great-grandchildren, Weston, Victorya, Dylan, Olivia, Caitlynn, Gia and Ashtynn; former spouse, Kathy Bailey of Ogallalla; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Madeline Shannon; wife, Colleen Shannon; and granddaughter, Kaleigh Ann Pfannkuch.
Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of Dennis’s life will be announced at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
