Gifford Ellis Massie III, age 57 of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his home.
Gifford was born on July 22, 1965, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Gifford E. Massie Jr. and Darlene R. (Kleinknecht) Massie. He graduated from Gothenburg High School with the Class of 1983 and attended diesel mechanic trade school in Laramie, Wyoming. He was hired on the Union Pacific Railroad and worked for over thirty years as a machinist, retiring in January of this year due to illness. He was married on October 5, 2007, in North Platte, Nebraska to Alexis Joan Nehman. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and sailing. He was also a ham radio operator with the call sign AAORB. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alexis; children, Jackie (Ryan) Anderegg, Jesse (Natalie) Massie, and Nathan (Sam) Massie, all of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Adrienne (Andrew) Meyer of Omaha, Nebraska, Tia Massie and Starr Massie, both of Highland Michigan; eight grandchildren; his sister, Sheila (Milton) Wear of Gothenburg, Nebraska; a brother, Tim Massie of Gothenburg, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Gifford at the Lincoln Highway RV Park at 4684 Rodeo Road in North Platte, NE on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation and to help with final expenses.
