Four Huskers punch tickets to Eugene on Day 1

The Nebraska track and field team concluded day one of the NCAA West Regionals with four athletes qualifying for NCAA Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon. Hencu Lamberts, Cade Moran, Keyshawn Strachan and Augustus Henry all locked in spots with their performances.

Lamberts claimed second in the men’s shot put to secure his spot at outdoor nationals, throwing 20.24m (66-5) to finish second at regionals. Moran followed closely behind with a mark of 19.61m (64-4) earning third and a spot in the shot put finals in Eugene.

In the final event of the day, Strachan launched a 76.00m (249-4) throw in the men’s javelin to earn second and a spot at outdoor nationals. Henry used a personal best, 72.82m (238-11), to finish sixth at regionals and grab a spot at nationals alongside Strachan.

James Ledbetter ran the eighth-fastest time in school history (50.24) in the men’s 400mH prelims to qualify for the regional finals on Friday at 7:25 p.m. (CT).

Hannes Fahl qualified for finals in the men’s 800m, crossing the line in 1:48.34. The 800m finals will be on Friday at 7:05 p.m. (CT).

Day two begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. (CT) with Harshita Sehrawat and Hillevi Carlsson competing in the women’s hammer throw.
