Florida man accused of chasing man around North Platte business with knife

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A Florida man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a man then chased him with a knife in a North Platte business.

According to police, at around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the report of a disturbance in the 3400 block of South Newberry Rd.

Officers arrived and made contact with the alleged victim and several witnesses.

Police said it was reported that the victim was sitting down using his phone when he was approached by Yoannis Polanco-Aguilar, 47, who proceeded to punch the victim in the face.

Police said the victim reported that Polanco-Aguilar then tried to get him to go outside and fight, but the victim refused.

The victim told police Polanco-Agular exited the store briefly before returning and producing a knife and chasing him around the store while making threats towards his life.

Police said the victim's story was corroborated by witness accounts and store surveillance footage.

Officers located Polanco-Aguilar still in the business and placed him under arrest. Police said officers also located a pocket knife in his pocket.

Polanco-Aguilar was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center on suspicion of 3rd-degree assault, terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
