Lincoln County Commissioners considered a range of local matters Monday morning during their regular meeting at the county courthouse in North Platte, including facility needs, liquor license changes, and grant authorizations.

At 9:35 a.m., commissioners discussed and approved a proposal to place a storage container for the Lincoln County Predator Control Department at the Noxious Weed Control Department site. Officials said the additional space is needed to house equipment and supplies securely.

A public hearing at 9:45 a.m. addressed a request from Unreel Events LLC to amend its liquor license. The amendment would allow the business to expand its seating area, install a tap wall, rearrange the bar layout, and add outdoor seating. After hearing no opposition, the board voted to recommend the changes to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.

At 10 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office requested approval to trade in a school travel vehicle for a lower-mileage SUV. Sheriff’s officials said the swap would improve safety and reduce maintenance costs. The board approved the request.

Commissioners also approved signing the 2026 Community-based Juvenile Services Aid Grant Award and associated special conditions at 10:15 a.m. The grant supports local initiatives aimed at youth intervention and prevention.

Reappointments to the Lincoln County Safety Committee followed at 10:25 a.m. Jason Schultz was reappointed as the management representative for a three-year term ending in June 2028. Angie Forbes and Charley Wescoat were reappointed as employee representatives for two-year terms ending in June 2027.

An update on Lincoln County’s sanctuary county status was presented at 10:35 a.m., though no formal action was taken.

The meeting concluded with a 10:45 a.m. discussion regarding additional funding for the Platte Valley Weed Management Area. Commissioners approved the request for increased resources to support helicopter and airboat spraying of invasive phragmites along the North and South Platte Rivers.
