
Charles “Butch” Wayne Diehl, age 78, of Broken Bow, Nebraska passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home in Broken Bow.
Funeral service will be Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 11:00 am at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, Nebraska with Pastor Stacey Erstrom officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30th from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Butch was born December 22, 1942 in Everett, Pennsylvania to Kenneth and Evelyn (Swindell) Diehl. He attended school in Everett, Pennsylvania. After graduating from High School, Butch joined the service, where he served in Germany and Vietnam. Butch was baptized in 1975 at the Church of God. Butch worked in Baltimore, Maryland for AT & T, later he drove a pilot care and did security work.
Butch met Shelley Miller, and then on January 3, 2002 the couple was married in Greeley, Colorado. They made their home in Ft. Morgan, Colorado, then in 2005 the couple moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska, where Butch worked for Kirkpatrick Cleaning for a while before retiring. Butch enjoyed watching Football “Huskers”, spending time with family, bowling, and fishing in his younger days.
Butch is survived by his wife Shelley Diehl of Broken Bow, Nebraska; daughter Diana Allen and her children Brandon and Francine Allen all of Pennsylvania; stepchildren Daniel (Maggie) Royle, Carrie Royle, Jill (Henry) Schmitz, and Dave Royle; step grandchildren Kyle Royle, Trent Royle, Riley Royle, Jeremy Schmitz, Jade Schmitz, Cheyenne Schantz, and Clay C. Schantz; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Diehl of Everett, Pennsylvania, and Barbara May of Florida; mother-in-law Reta Miller; and two brothers-in-law, Mike (Trudie) Miller and Greg (Linda) Miller.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Diehl; a father-in-law, Claire Miller; and a stepson, Joshua Royle.
