Eloise Farber

Eloise Darlene Farber was born on January 3, 1932 in McCook, Nebraska to William R. and Alvena (Frank) Breitling.  She attended school in McCook and was a member of the McCook High School graduating class of 1949.

Eloise was united in marriage on April 8, 1951 to Richard “Dick” Farber at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook.  The couple made McCook their home and soon welcomed two daughters: Debbie and Terri.  Eloise was employed at the YMCA in McCook.  She also worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Lavern Blank, DDS and in later years enjoyed her time visiting with and assisting customers at the Denim N Duds clothing store just west of McCook.

Eloise’s love for baking started at an early age; in high school she worked at the Fallick Bakery in McCook.  She would continue to bake her entire adult life, making countless desserts and cakes for area birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and weddings.  She also spoiled friends and family with delicious peanut brittle during the holiday season.  Eloise shared her baking and cooking skills with her McCook Memorial United Methodist Church Family, where she was a 69 year member and served countless funeral dinners.

Eloise passed away early Friday morning, December 22, 2023 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.  She was 91 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; and a brother Galen Breitling.

Her memory will live on through her daughters, Debbie (Lee) Ralston of North Platte, Nebraska and Terri (Dave) Winder of McCook; her grandchildren: Becky (Michael), Dennis (Angie), Jill, and Mika (Tom); her great-grandchildren: Madison, Makenzie, Chelcie, Corbin, Jordan, Coleton, Gracie, and Grady; and with her great-great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jett.

Cremation was chosen and the family will honor Eloise’s wish to have no formal services.  A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
