
Jeffrey Alan Wiede, affectionately known as Jeff, was born in Austin, TX, on December 20, 1959, to Martin and Lillian (Goetz) Wiede and passed away on March 19, 2026, in North Platte, NE. Jeff was a man of remarkable kindness and compassion, whose warm spirit and great sense of humor meant he never knew a stranger. His presence was a beacon of friendship and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jeff graduated from Jourdanton High School in 1979 where he excelled in track, football, and basketball. After graduating from high school, he attended Schriner University, where he earned an Associate’s degree in business. His educational foundation paved the way for a fruitful career that spanned several decades.
Throughout his professional life, Jeff demonstrated unwavering dedication and skill. He initially worked for cable TV in Denver before joining Snell Services in North Platte. His most significant tenure was at the Municipal Light & Water in North Platte, where he devoted 35 years of service, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and the community alike.
Jeff’s personal life was marked by love and commitment. He first married Kathy Williams on July 6, 1985, and later found love again, marrying Kathy Lewis Dragoo on December 29, 2007, in North Platte at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. His family was central to his life, cherished deeply and lovingly remembered.
Jeff enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing in Port Aransas, TX. He also enjoyed preparing barbeque for family and large groups of friends. His enthusiasm for barbequing led to the creation of the Honky Tonk BBQ team where he proudly competed in barbeque competitions. In addition, he also enjoyed wine making. Through his wife Kathy’s influence, he developed a deep appreciation for new music and the performing arts, enriching his life with cultural and creative experiences.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Dragoo Wiede of North Platte; and his stepson, Jedediah Lewis, also of North Platte. He is remembered fondly by his siblings, Robert Wiede of Pleasanton, TX, and Valarie (Gary Ping) Craig of Jourdanton, TX. He was also cherished by his parents-in-law, Ron and Judy Roberts of Maxwell, Madeline Dragoo of Loveland, CO, and Robert “Twigs” Lindsey of Arvada, CO; brothers-in-law, Charles “Chip” (Jan) Dragoo of Seattle, WA, Ken (Jane) Dragoo, Jr. of Florence, MT, Shane Roberts of Atlanta, GA; aunt, Deidra Goetz of Elgin, TX. Moreover, Jeff's life touched the hearts of several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with many other family members and friends who hold his memory dear.
Jeff was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy Williams Wiede; parents, Martin and Lillian Wiede; father-in-law, Kenneth Dragoo, Sr.; and his beloved daughter, Feryn Wiede. Their memories remain a lasting part of his story.

A visitation will be held on March 26, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00-7:00, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, located at 421 W 4th St, North Platte, NE 69101. This will be an opportunity for all who knew Jeff to gather, share stories, and celebrate his life. The memorial service will follow on March 27, 2026, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1400 East E Street, North Platte, NE 69101, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed and can be found at www.adamsswanson.com at the bottom of Jeff’s obituary. A graveside service will be held in Jourdanton, TX, with a date to be announced. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jeffrey Alan Wiede’s memory lives on in the hearts of all he touched. He embodied generosity, friendship, and a joyful spirit that will forever be remembered and cherished by family, friends, and the community. May he rest in peace.
