NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A North Platte man has been arrested on allegations of incest and sexual assault of a child.
According to police on May 1, the police department was contacted in regards to a possible sexual assault of a child that had occurred several days earlier.
Officers investigated and the victim was interviewed at the Small Voices Child Advocacy Center.
Police said as the investigation progressed, it was revealed that Shaunmichael Hopkins, 33, had subjected the minor to sexual penetration between April 22 and 24.
Police determined there was probable cause to arrest Hopkins on suspicion of incest and 1st-degree sexual assault of a child.
On May 12, Hopkins was placed under arrest and jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
The Lincoln Police Department assisted North Platte police with the investigation.
