Lincoln County residents will have an opportunity Monday to weigh in on proposed changes to the county's zoning regulations governing data centers.
And for this meeting, commissioners are moving to a larger venue.
The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday, August 31, at 9 a.m. in the North Platte City Hall Council Chambers, rather than its usual meeting room at the Lincoln County Courthouse. The change provides a larger space ahead of three public hearings involving proposed amendments to the county's zoning regulations, including changes specifically addressing data centers.
The planning items are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Commissioners will first hold a public hearing on proposed changes to the county's conditional use regulations to reflect recent state legislative updates to conditional use permit procedures.
The board will then consider a proposal to amend the county's land use categories and matrix to add ancillary data centers as permitted uses in A-1, TA-1, C-1, I-1, AGV and LCR zoning districts.
A separate public hearing will also be held on proposed amendments to Section 8.22 of the Lincoln County Zoning Regulations, which specifically addresses regulations for data centers.
Following each public hearing, commissioners are scheduled to consider resolutions adopting the proposed amendments.
The data center zoning discussions come after months of public discussion surrounding potential data center development in Lincoln County, including a lengthy commissioners meeting earlier this year focused on a proposed temporary moratorium.
While the data center hearings are expected to draw the most attention, commissioners will also consider several other items during Monday's meeting.
Those include approving claims and treasurer's receipts, authorizing the chairman to sign proposals with Kidwell for security cameras at several county facilities, considering an administrative subdivision application from Raul Ramos, and setting a September 21 public hearing on the proposed 2026-2027 Lincoln County budget.
The Lincoln County Board of Equalization will also meet at 9:15 a.m.
Monday's meeting begins at 9 a.m. at North Platte City Hall Council Chambers. The data center-related public hearings are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Members of the public can also watch the meeting through the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners' YouTube channel.
