LEXINGTON, Neb. — The Dawson Public Power District Board of Directors reviewed guidance for prescribed and controlled burns near electric equipment, recognized employees who competed in the Nebraska Lineworker Rodeo, and received a positive financial update during its August board meeting.
Dawson PPD reviewed a new procedure for prescribed and controlled burns near district equipment. It outlines specific actions to ensure consistency, safety, and efficiency. The procedure explains how employees should coordinate with burn crews, landowners, and others to help protect people and electric facilities. It is available on Dawson PPD’s website.
The board recognized Dawson PPD’s lineworker rodeo team for competing July 17 at the Nebraska Lineworker Rodeo in Broken Bow. The team competed alongside 36 apprentices and 36 journeymen from utilities across the state.
Dawson PPD’s overall financial performance including net margin, is positive compared to budget through the first half of the year. Revenue and power costs are above budget, while other operating costs are under budget.
Directors Don Batie and Molly Dixon attended the NRECA Summer School, a professional development program for public power and electric cooperative directors.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2.
