
Bonnie Kay (Lindstedt) Howell, 78, of Maxwell, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln.
Bonnie was born on September 19, 1943 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Edwin A. and Helen L. (Schultz) Lindstedt. After the early passing of her mother, she was adopted and raised by Kathryn (Doukas) Lindstedt.
Bonnie was married to Marvin Howell on November 25, 1962 in Gothenburg. She worked for most of her career for the U.S. Postal Service as a safety instructor and rural carrier until her retirement in 2014. She then worked for the North Platte Opportunity Center, Our Redeemer Lutheran School as a cook, and for many years as a caregiver/nanny to her honorary grandchildren. She served as NE state PTA President for many years, and loved volunteering with the Girl Scout Guiding Star Girl Scout Council – Train the Trainer, as well as the EMT Maxwell Volunteer Ambulance. She taught Sunday School at 1st Baptist Gothenburg for many years. Bonnie was active with the PTA, Girl and Boy Scouts, Maxwell Coffee Club, and Extension Club for several years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Marvin; son, John (April) Howell of Cary, IL; daughters, Wendy Cardenas of Gothenburg, Jenny (Shane) Baxter of North Platte, Amy Howell-Willard of Curtis, and Miranda Smyth of Maxwell; brother, Kent Lindstedt of Dwight; grandchildren, Skyler Howell of Crystal Lake, IL, Caleb Howell, Alexia Howell, Alexa Jefferies all of Cary, IL, Erica (Nick) Hansen of Minden, Heather (Chance Smith) Cardenas of Gothenburg, Paula (Tel) Brown of Gothenburg, Mary (Kiowa) Sanders of Minden, Annette Cardenas of Gothenburg, Emily Bose of Gothenburg, Caleb (Mary) Baxter of North Platte, Nathan (Tara Madigovich) Baxter of North Platte, Tiffany Willard of Wichita, KS, Jacob (Savannah) Willard of Curtis, Helen Willard of Lincoln, Brandyn Willard of Wichita, KS, Dallas (Anais Sowles) Smyth of Minden, and Jackie Smyth of Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Remmy, Adalie, Jonna, Raelyn, Kaylee, Leo, Arya, Faye, Kallum, Christopher, Aloura, Joshua and Alijah; honorary grandchildren, Adelynn and Oliveah, Krista and Madi; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and adopted mother; and by a sister, Kathleen Meredith.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel Sunday, March 13th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The service will be live streamed via Carpenter Memorial Facebook page for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran School.
