A beautiful spring afternoon and strong community turnout made this year’s Kids in the Park event a major success, with more than 450 people gathering at Cody Park on April 11 for a day centered around family fun and early childhood education.

Hosted by Communities for Kids Lincoln County, the annual event brought families from North Platte and surrounding areas together for an afternoon filled with activities, entertainment, and access to local resources.

Sunny skies and warm temperatures created the perfect setting as families spread out across the park, visiting booths, enjoying performances, and taking part in hands-on activities. Children could be seen singing on stage, playing games, and exploring interactive stations set up throughout the park.

The karaoke stage was a standout attraction, drawing a steady stream of young performers, with songs from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack emerging as a crowd favorite.

Hands-on activities remained busy all afternoon. The Trucks N Tiaras sand art table was especially popular, reflecting the event’s continued growth. Organizers at the booth shared they ordered twice as much sand as last year—and had also doubled their supply the year before—highlighting steady year-over-year increases in participation. Face painting and the inflatable jump house slide also saw constant use, rarely slowing down.

Families also had the chance to interact with unique, hands-on displays, including equipment from Construction Rental and Above Par Lawn Solutions, where kids could climb on and explore machinery up close.

Throughout the park, local organizations connected with families by offering resources, information, and activities. Participating groups included Sixpence, Hope Esperanza, the North Platte Public Library, Molina Healthcare, Women, Infants and Children (WIC), and Keep North Platte and Lincoln County Beautiful, among many others.

For many attendees, the event provided not only a full afternoon of entertainment, but also easy access to services and programs they may not have previously known about.

Organizers say the strong attendance, growing participation, and high level of engagement made this year’s Kids in the Park one of the most successful yet, continuing its role as a key annual event for families in the North Platte area.
