Gary Watson Buk was born March 8, 1956, to George and Irene (Fleischacker) Buk in Atwood, KS. He passed away on February 22, 2022 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, at the age of 65.
Gary grew up in Atwood and attended school there. He was a 1974 graduate of Atwood High School. Later he attended Northwest Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School in Goodland, KS, majoring in welding. He was employed by Finley Construction.
Upon the death of his mother in 2004, he moved to McCook to be close to his sister, Karen Berry. He was employed by Schmick’s Market and Runza Restaurant and later retired.
He became a communicant member of Peace Lutheran Church in 2005. He enjoyed visiting with his many friends on his cell phone and going out to eat with them when they came to McCook to visit him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Buk; maternal and paternal grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Gary leaves his sister, Karen Berry; Karen’s foster son, Ryan Davis and his family, all of McCook; and many friends from Atwood and McCook who will miss him and cherish his memory.
Memorial Services will be held on March 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church, McCook, with Pastor Lonnie Felcher officiating.
A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Riverview Cemetery.
