Rex Lloyd Boggs, was welcomed into his heavenly home on January 20, 2026 at the age of 70. He passed peacefully with his family at his side.

Rex was born on September 26, 1955, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Ron and Wanda Boggs. He grew up with a love for the land and a tireless work ethic, graduating from Hershey High School in 1973. A farmer at heart, Rex began farming at an early age alongside his father and siblings.

On June 14, 1980, Rex married the love of his life, Cheryl Johnson. Together, they built a life centered on family, and from this union came four sons, who were his greatest pride.

Rex was a man of steadfast character and strong convictions. A man of his word—there was nothing "wishy-washy" about him. You always knew where he stood on any subject. He found joy in the simple, meaningful things: tinkering on antique tractors as a member of Hershey Antique Tractor Club, reloading ammo, target shooting with the boys, trapshooting at Lake Maloney Gun Club, teaching Cheryl how to shoot, and collecting arrowheads. In past summers, you could find him cruising in his red Dodge Charger on Cruise Nights in North Platte. He loved the 4th of July fireworks best of all, a favorite holiday marked by celebrations that his neighbors could certainly attest to.

In the kitchen, Rex was a craftsman in his own right. He loved making jerky for his boys and worked side-by-side with Cheryl making jelly and canning peaches. He became especially skilled at making wheat bread from scratch, using home ground wheat.  After a long, hot summer day, nothing hit the spot quite like a red beer and the company of his wife. Whether it was a lively voicing of opinion over a cup of joe with Kip and his lumberyard “crew” or spending time with his grandkids, he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.

Rex is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl; his four sons, Dan (Michelle) of Mesa, AZ; Ryan (Melanie) of Osteen, FL; Andrew (Eugenie) of North Platte, NE; and Eric (Hannah) of Wakefield, KS; and his three cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Parker, and Abel. He also leaves behind his siblings, Duane (Audrey) and Sharon (Jolene), along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Wanda Boggs; his paternal grandparents, Lloyd 'Slim' and Marie Boggs; and his maternal grandparents, Miles and Ethel Thurber.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m., with family present from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Maria Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.  Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Maria Lutheran Church.
