Donald “Don” Leslie Ruggles, age 62, of McCook, NE passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Kearney Regional Hospital in Kearney, NE.
Don was born September 19, 1958 in McCook to parents Leslie Thomas and Donna Mae (Berry) Ruggles. He was one of three children born to this union. Don attended school at Republican Valley, graduating with the Class of 1976.
On January 22, 1984, Don married the love of his life, Theresa Jane (Orvis) Ruggles in Las Vegas, NV. The couple was blessed with four children.
Don enjoyed a life of farming, trucking and most of all, family. He especially enjoyed the many family trips to the Rocky Mountains and Mid West as well as several trips to Cancun and an Alaskan cruise. His hobbies included coyote hunting with a good set of greyhounds, golfing and drumming with McCook Christian worship teams where he was also a member. Don served on the HRW Irrigation Board and was a past member of the McCook Elk’s Club. He was an avid sports fan, supporting his children grandchildren’s many events over the years. Don was a member of many town team basketball games at the YMCA.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brother in laws, Jim Bobinmyer and Doug Hauxwell; niece, Kathy Hauxwell-Emrich; and two infant nephews.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Theresa Ruggles of McCook; children, Luke (Leah) Ruggles and Landon (Hailey) Ruggles, all of WaKenney, KS, Lesley (fiancée Adam Kruger) Ruggles of Omaha, NE and Lauren (Clayton) Skolout of McCook; five grandchildren, Kaiden, Krayton, Kristen, Camlyn and Paisyn; as well as numerous extended family members and lifelong friends.
Visitation with family present to greet friends will be on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at McCook Christian Church, 507 West B Street in McCook, NE. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
