
Gary Dean Premer, 79, of McCook, Nebraska passed away at Hillcrest a Caring Center in McCook on August 22, 2020. Gary was born in McCook on June 18, 1941 to Elbert Earl and Dorothy Evelyn (Rosier) Premer. He attended school in Bartley, Nebraska and was active in football, basketball, and many other activities. He graduated with the class of 1959 of which he served as class president. He furthered his education at McCook Community College.
Gary married Beverly Ann Clapp on July 3, 1960 at the Christian Church in Bartley. He missed the draft of Vietnam because he was expecting his first born, Trevor. Gary worked for Montgomery Ward for a few years as a carpet and furniture salesman. He later started his career as a floor covering mechanic; he did this until the time of his retirement.
Gary coached all four of his children in baseball and softball from T-ball clear through Legion ball. He loved fishing and playing cards. He also enjoyed watching sports in person or on the TV and really enjoyed the television program, Antique Roadshow.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Elbert and Dorothy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly of McCook; four children: Trevor Dean (Dee) Premer of McCook, Michael Lynn Premer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jodi Lea (Scott) Frank of Forth Worth, Texas, and Gregg Eugene (Dina) Premer of Blair, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Sylvia) Premer of Niland, California; nieces, Dana Premer of New Orleans, Louisiana and Casie (Damian) Cane of Rock, California; and numerous other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday afternoon, August 28, 2020 at the McCook Christian Church with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. No viewing cremation was chosen. Inurnment will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook. Memorials are suggested to the family of Gary Premer for future designation. Words of comfort may be left at herrmannfh.com.
