Ann L. Bluel (1938-2021)

     Ann L. Bluel, age 82, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died February 17, 2021 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE. 
     Ann L. Bluel, was one of three children born to Walter and Anna Cappel.  She was born July 10, 1938 in Hastings, NE. In her younger years, the  family moved several times before settling in North Platte, Nebraska. Ann was confirmed in the 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School. She then went on to work for Northwestern Bell Co. as a switch operator.
     Ann married Henry Janssen, December 15, 1957. They settled north of Gothenburg, NE and together they had five children. She helped in managing the farm business and was active in W.I.F.E. (Women Involved in Farm Economics). She stayed busy raising 5 children and all of their extra curricular activities.  She was committed to her faith and was a long time active member of Zion Lutheran Church. There she taught Sunday School, Confirmation, Sponsors of Luther League, and served in Lutheran Church Women's Organization.  In the mid 1980's, Ann went back to work at the Homestead Restaurant, KK  Appliance  before working  at Skyview  and retiring. In 1989, the couple moved into Gothenburg.
     After Henry's passing she remarried Gary Bluel on February 27, 1999. The couple resided in Gothenburg where they enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and volunteering at the Senior Center. She dearly loved her family, especially the grand and great grandchildren, they would bring her joy. She took delight to all her close friends.
     Survivors include husband, Gary Bluel of Gothenburg, NE; three daughters, Laura (Joe) Urbanec of Gothenburg, NE, Angela (Leonard) Barkmeier of Gothenburg, NE, and Cindy (Corey) Cooper of Gothenburg, NE; two sons, William Janssen of Omaha, NE and Roy (Shellie) Janssen of Omaha, NE; two stepsons, Terry (Amanda) Bluel of Eaton, CO, and Michael (Nicki) Bluel of Sedona, AZ; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister Deborah (Don) Whitmore of Laramie, WY, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 
     Ann was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Anna, first husband, Henry Janssen, brother, Vernon Cappel, and great-granddaughter, Julenne. 
      Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE on Sunday, February 21, 2021, 1:00 - 4:00 pm with family present 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
     Funeral Services: 2:00 PM, Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Road 722 Highway 47, Gothenburg, NE with Pastor Carol Mapa officiating. 
     Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.
     Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or Hilltop Estates.
