On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 6:58 a.m., the North Platte and Wallace Fire Departments responded to a propane line fire at the NuStar Energy terminal, located 10 miles south of North Platte on Hwy 83.Incident Details:

Location: 4" feeder pipe on the south side of 10 large industrial propane tanks.

Emergency Response: Automatic detection systems functioned correctly, closing valves on either side of the leak to isolate the fuel.

Containment Strategy: Fire crews manually closed additional valves per facility protocols. Following standard safety procedures, the remaining gas was allowed to burn off completely to prevent the release of raw gas into the atmosphere.

Duration: The residual product finished burning after approximately 90 minutes, and the scene was cleared.

Casualties/Impact: No injuries were reported, and no evacuations were required.

Cause: The fire is currently under investigation but is preliminary attributed to a pump motor failure.
