July 3, 2023 (North Platte, Neb.)- Weather permitting, work will begin July 10, on Spur 56A, south of Maxwell, from reference post 3.86 to reference post 2.10, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Simon Contractors Inc. of Cheyenne, Wyoming is the contractor for this project. Work includes the removal and reconstruction of two bridges at reference post 3.05 and 2.69, followed by asphalt resurfacing. Traffic will be maintained with traffic signals during bridge work, and flaggers and pilot car for asphalt resurfacing. A 10-foot width restriction will be in effect during bridge construction. Anticipated project completion is September 2024.
The purpose of this project is to preserve the transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
