Warren “Murray” Cecil, 57, passed away on April 17, 2023, at UNMC in Omaha, surrounded by his family.  He was born to Warren and Eileen (Waterman) Cecil on April 3, 1966 at the Naval Base in San Diego, CA, where his dad was stationed at the time.

Murray was raised in North Platte where he attended Cody Elementary, Adams Junior High, and NPHS, graduating with the class of 1984.  In 1990, he married Shari Gleason, spending 36 years annoying each other.  They were the love of each other’s lives.  Murray furthered his education and received his LPN in 2000 from MPCC.

He was one of the funniest, most generous people you could ever meet.  Murray was a practical joker and delighted in teasing his family and friends.  He was a busy man, holding many positions throughout his life, including, bartender, cook, nurse, administrator, and most recently, shop manager at Janssens, as well as the host of “Saturday’s with Murdog” on Rock 100.  Murray was an avid golfer and loved to cook for his family; he made the most amazing Chinese food, cheesecakes, and truffles.  He enjoyed celebrating the Fourth of July, going fishing, and watching and quoting Mel Brooks movies.  Murray was raised in the Wesleyan Church and later returned to his Faith at Harvest Christian Fellowship.  Murray knew Jesus.

Those who “frogged out” before Murray include his father, Warren Lee Cecil; mother, Eileen M. Waterman; grandparents, John and Edna Waterman; cousin, Aaron Kafka; mother-in-law, Betty Gleason; and several “best dogs”.

Left to treasure his memory and mourn his loss include his wife, Shari, of North Platte; daughter, Nikkie (Jason) Florom, of Paxton; grandchildren, Tatum (Clay Neilsen) Florom, Jada, Cheyenne, Destiny, and Hogan; sister, Deirdre (Ross) Nichelson, of Sutherland; brothers, Joeseph Toelle (Cassie Schultz), of North Platte and Travis Cecil, of Norton, KS; father-in-law, Dale Gleason, of North Platte; aunts and uncle, Lois Anderson, of North Platte, and Loren and Beth Cecil, of Omaha; many nieces and nephews, and several friends.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.  Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.

Per his wishes, cremation was chosen.  Book signing will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Harvest Christian Fellowship with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating.
