    Jean Roberta Miller was born on December 22, 1947 at Hillside Hospital, San Diego, California; to parents, Robert and Lillian (Counce) Beezley.  She grew up in La Mesa, California and graduated from Helix High School in 1966.  In the fall of that same year, she attended James Hall College of Beauty, earning her Cosmetology degree in 1967.  The exam for Cosmetology was held in the area of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles, California.

    In 1968, Jean married Michael Jennings, to this union Beth Alice was born.  They were divorced in 1975, Jean and Beth moved to Hayes Center, Nebraska.  Jean owned and operated a beauty salon in Hayes Center for thirteen years.  She also worked as a cosmetologist while living in California, in total she worked in beauty salons for 21 years, making many lifelong friendships.  Jean and Beth began dating George Miller while in Hayes Center, they were married in 1977.  Jean enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, and making jewelry. 

    In 1999, Jean attended the ELM (Education for Lay Ministry) classes of the United Church of Christ.  After finishing her ELM classes and earning a license to the a minister, Jean served the Curtis UCC Church and the Stockville UCC Church for eight years.  Jean was hired by the Union Congregational UCC Church in Hayes Center and the Congregational UCC Church in Trenton in 2010.

    Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lillian Beezley; husband, George Miller; an infant son; sister, Joan Laurenroth; brother-in-law, John Miller; and sister-in-law, Teresa Miller. 

    She is survived by her daughter, Beth Anderson and son-in-law, Chris Anderson of McCook; brother-in-law, Jerry Miller of Hayes Center; grandchildren: Shonda Jacob, Devin Jacob, and Izaiah Jacob all of McCook; great-grand-girls: Summer Knight, Stormi Knight, Lilli Knight, and Mckenzi Jacob; as well as several friends and extended family.

    Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10AM-7PM and Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.  Jean’s family will greet friends from 4-7PM.

    Funeral services are scheduled at 2PM, Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2024 at the Hayes Center Union United Church of Christ with Chaplain Tyler Thiessen officiating.  Burial in the Hayes Center Cemetery will follow services.
