Shirley Ann Smith

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Shirley Ann Smith entered into the loving arms of our Lord on February 28, 2024. She was born June 20, 1942 to Kenneth W. Owen and Leona Owen (nee Miller). She married her high school sweetheart, George E. Smith on September 2, 1962 and they were wed 42 years until his passing in 2004.

Shirley was a dedicated homemaker whose life was spent loving and caring for her family, horses, dogs, and cats. Although she lived in many places due to George’s military assignments and work with the Union Pacific Railroad, North Platte was always her dear hometown. Shirley was a lifelong member and supporter of the Salvation Army.

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, and sister, Joyce Faler.

Shirley is survived by daughters Keely Ellsworth, Kendra Nebeker (Kent), and son Kent Smith (Angie); grandchildren Zac Ellsworth (Malorri), Elyse Ellsworth (Trai Spikes), Izzy Ellsworth, Dennis Nolen & family, Dewey Nolen & family, Katie Smith (Jake Novak), Heather Adams (Jared), Cody Purcell & family, Kent Smith, Kole Smith, Holly Smith, Ryan Smith, Kelly Nebeker, Kaden Nebeker, & Kyler Nebeker; great-grandchildren Noelle Smith, Killian Adams, & Aiden Adams; brother Kenneth C.
