
Bernard “Bernie” Anthony Boltz, 67, of North Platte, NE passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Great Plains Health Hospital.
He was born on June 6, 1954 in North Platte, son of Robert and Ilene (Jones) Boltz.
Bernie graduated from Big Springs High School in 1972 and attended University of Nebraska at Lincoln for 2 years until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While serving in the U.S. Navy he developed an aptitude as a linguistics expert in the Vietnamese and Russian languages. He was stationed in the Philippines, Japan, Denver, and spent most of his duty while at sea, being discharged in 1994 from Hawaii. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked for many years at the North Platte Wal-Mart. Bernie loved all things Husker, but specifically Husker basketball. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents, and by siblings, Ronald, Thomas and Rebecca.
He is survived by siblings, Linda Jimenez of North Platte, John (Patty) Boltz of Hastings, James (Suzanne) Boltz of Lincoln, and Ruth (Kevin) Cusic of North Platte; 17 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and a couple great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with Pastor Anne Durboraw officiating. There will be no public visitation, but the guest book will be available to sign on Thursday, January 27th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
