When you ask any North Platte resident over the last several years what they think about the city, two topics are sure to come up; Iron Eagle Golf Course and the North Platte Recreation Center.

City Administrator Matthew Kibbon announced on March 3 that CL Land has officially become the leaseholder of Iron Eagle Golf Course, which officially removes the City of North Platte as the operator of the course.

According to a city news release, golf course utilization will be placed on hold during the transition period, with periodic updates provided on the City's website and through local media outlets.

Iron Eagle is an 18-hole course opened by the City of North Platte in June of 1994 along the banks of the South Platte River. However, flooding the city hadn't seen in years forced the closure of several holes the first year. Over the years, flooding has hampered play at the course, forcing partial or total closures.
