NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — North Platte residents have a chance to help name one of the city’s newest recreational additions.

The City of North Platte is inviting the public to submit name ideas for the newly completed skate park located in Centennial Park.

The park was designed to be all-wheeled, non-motorized equipment inclusive, allowing use by skaters, rollerbladers, skateboarders, bicyclists, scooter riders, and wheelchair users.

City officials say the project was completed and opened ahead of schedule, adding a new recreational space for the community to enjoy.

They are now encouraging residents to submit creative name ideas that reflect North Platte’s identity, local history, or skate culture.

Submissions will be accepted through 5 p.m. on April 20, 2026. A selection committee will then review entries and choose a winning name.

The selected name will be announced during the skate park’s official grand opening later this spring at Centennial Park.

Residents can submit their ideas online at: https://www.northplattene.gov/skateparknaming

The new skate park adds to North Platte’s recreational offerings and provides a dedicated space for a wide range of users and skill levels.
