Albert Iowa Kelly, 77, of North Platte, passed away on April 19, 2023, at Great Plains Health. He was born to John and Hazel (Lunsford) Kelly on March 5, 1946, in Omaha, NE.
Albert grew up in Omaha where he attended school through the ninth grade. In 1968, he married Diane Janssen and to this union two daughters were born: Marcia and Brenda. The couple moved to North Platte in the mid-70s where Albert worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as well as for Myron Walker doing carpentry work. He later married Judy Shook. The couple merged their families, giving Albert a third daughter, Laura.
Fishing was what Albert spent the majority of his free time doing. He was so funny and loved telling jokes while he spent time with his grandchildren and his close friends, especially Toby Ziegler. Albert was always very chivalrous and polite.
Those left to cherish Albert’s memory include his daughters, Marcia Janssen, of Cozad, Brenda (Douglas) Johnson, of Minong, WI, and Laura (Brad) Spiehs, of North Platte; grandchildren, Phillip Janssen, of Cozad, Dakkota (Megan) Austin, of McCook, Nathaniel Manning, of Cozad, Kendra (Charles) Saunders, of Gothenburg, Betty Spiehs, of North Platte, Jacob (Amber) Howard, of Kearney, Dalton Howard, of Kearney, Ame Johnson, of Minong, WI; 16 great grandchildren; close friends, Rick Wherle, Judy Nelson, and Joan Cooper; and many other family members.
Preceding him in death include his parents; brothers, Flloyd and Willie; ex-wife, Diane Janssen; and grandparents.
Services will be held 11:30 A.M., Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Two Rivers Fellowship (106 E 5th, North Platte).
