
North Platte High School was evacuated Monday morning following a reported bomb threat, with students safely moved to Bauer Field as law enforcement responded.
According to school officials, the evacuation took place at 9:36 a.m. after a concerning phone call was received. Parents were first notified at 9:43 a.m.
In an initial statement obtained by North Platte Post, NPHS Principal Cory Spotanski said, “North Platte High School performed an evacuation at 9:36 A.M. This was per the guidance of police. We did have law enforcement arrive on site.”
The North Platte Police Department is on scene and continues to investigate. A police drone could be seen flying over the school’s parking lot as officers assess the area.
All students have been accounted for and are safe.
At 10:03 a.m., school officials announced plans for a controlled release of students. The release began at 10:15 a.m., allowing parents to pick up their children in stages from designated gates near Bauer Field.
Authorities have not released additional details about the nature of the threat at this time.
