North Platte residents are being asked to reduce their electricity use this afternoon and evening as crews continue working to restore power following an ongoing outage affecting parts of the city.
Municipal Light & Water issued the request Monday afternoon, asking customers to conserve electricity whenever possible until 8 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Raise their thermostat by 2 to 3 degrees above their normal setting.
- Turn off unnecessary lights and appliances.
- Delay using large electrical devices such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, and ovens.
- Reduce overall power consumption to help stabilize the electrical grid.
Officials say conserving energy during this time will help support the electrical system while crews work to restore service to affected areas.
The conservation request was issued at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 20. Municipal Light & Water thanked residents for their patience and cooperation.
