NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A Washington woman was arrested after she allegedly stabbed a man at a North Platte motel.

According to police at around 5:39 p.m. on Dec. 27, officers responded to the emergency room at Great Plains Health where a male subject was being treated for a stab wound.

Officers met with the victim who stated he had been involved in an altercation somewhere in North Platte. Police said officers tried to get more information from the victim but he was uncooperative.

Police said the investigation continued and officers were able to determine the male was staying at a local motel.

Officers responded to the motel and located the room where the man was staying. They reported finding drops of blood on the sidewalk and noticed the area right in front of the room appeared to have been recently cleaned.

Officers made contact with a woman in the room, Nichole Wright-Dohopolski, 40, who police said admitted to stabbing the man during an altercation.

After further questioning, Wright-Dohopolski told officers she and the man had gotten into an altercation in the room earlier when she grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the lower leg. Police also learned two minor children were present during the incident but were unharmed.

Police said officers located blood in the room and found the knife in a sink full of water.

Wright-Dohopolski was placed under arrest on suspicion of 2nd-degree domestic assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and two counts of child abuse. She was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.

Police said the children were placed in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
