NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A Lincoln County Commissioner has announced his bid for the District 42 seat in the Nebraska Legislature.

Chris Bruns will launch his campaign at an event at 6:00 p.m. this evening, at Pals Brewing Company, 4520 S. Buffalo Bill Ave., where he'll be joined by Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer, Senator Mike Groene, and North Platte Chief of Police Daniel Hudson.

On his Facebook page, Bruns describes himself as a husband, father, Marine combat veteran, and Lincoln County Commissioner.

Bruns said he will work to overhaul the entire tax structure—the only way to really fix our property tax problem; grow our economy locally, in western Nebraska, and in the state overall; fight to preserve all of our individual liberties enshrined in the Bill of Rights; protect property rights and support his fellow farmers and ranchers; support our law enforcement and first responders to provide for stronger, safer communities; defend the defenseless and most vulnerable— the unborn, and advocate strongly for parental rights and choice in education.

Great Plains Health CEO Mel McNea has also announced his bid for the seat.
