Doris Jean Mankle passed away at Grandview Assisted Living in Ord, NE August 28, 2022.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Sargent. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Sargent. Memorials are suggested to Windmill Links Golf Course - Sargent, Nebraska. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Sargent, NE. She was born November 2, 1933, in Plover, Iowa to Harold and Helen (Buck) O’Neall. Doris grew up in the Plover, Iowa area. She graduated with the class of 1951. After graduation, her and her sister Faye ran Doris and Faye’s Family Friendly Café. She then married the love of her life Orville Mankle, while he was on leave from the Army, December 30, 1952, at the Presbyterian Church in Plover, Iowa. Into this union four children were born: Nick, Jane, Robin, and Dan. Doris enjoyed baking, bowling, fishing, camping, golfing and especially watching The Chicago Cubs, University of Lincoln sporting activities and above all her beloved Grand and Great Grandchildren’s activities. Doris worked several different jobs before retiring. After retiring, she enjoyed being a grandma and keeping Orville in line.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Helen, her mother and father-in-Law Charles and Edith Mankle, sister Faye and brother-in-law Bob Horseman, brother Jim and sister-in-Law Karen L. O’Neall, brother Dick O’Neall, sisters and brothers-in-law Vera and Harvey Spiva, Erma and Bob Pullen, Jack and Jean Mankle, Ralph Mankle, Jerry Mankle and Mary Lou Mankle.
Doris is survived by husband, of 69 years, Orville Mankle, children Nick (Gloria) Mankle of Grand Island, Jane (Reece) Jensen of Sargent, Robin (Dan) Dowse of Sargent, Dan (Jet) Mankle of Sargent, grandchildren Caryl (Wayne) Pribnow, of Kearney, Christopher (Melinda Mattson) Mankle of Lincoln, Kristina (Kenny Ellsworth) Lamb of Sargent, Sheila (Jeremy) Clark of Hastings, Stephanie (J.D.) Keefe of Sargent, Brittany (Robert) Myers of Sargent, Amanda (Jesse) Turpin of Gordon, Cordel Mankle of Sargent, great-grandchildren James Mankle, Jacob Pribnow, Trista Mankle, Traven Mankle, Enric Mankle, EltaMae Mankle, Kendra (Collin) Kemp, Bryce Lamb, Grant Lamb, Noah Lamb, Keaton Dowse, Kooper Keefe, Kinley Keefe, Bronc Turpin, Colt Turpin, Macardi Turpin, and soon to be great great grandson Baby Kemp.
