Bill Navarro, 74 of Kearney passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Kearney American Legion Post #52 and VFW Post #759 in conjunction with the Offutt Airforce Base Honors Team. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

William “Bill” Navarro was born September 9, 1946 in Santa Rita, NM to Guillermo Navarro and Rosa Reyes. He received his education from Central High School in Pueblo, CO, graduating with the class of 1964. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1969. He furthered his education at Solano Community College in Fairfield, CA where he earned his degree as a registered nurse. Bill worked as a registered nurse in Vallejo, CA before moving to Denver where he worked at the Denver VA Hospital for 35 years. Bill was united in marriage to Sandy Mercer on May 16, 1991. The couple later moved to Kearney.

Bill was an avid sports fan, especially anything related to Colorado Sports. He enjoyed watching James Bond movies and comedies, playing with his dogs, and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the rest of his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandy Navarro of Kearney; sons, William “BJ” Navarro of Pueblo, CO; Brad Navarro and wife, Erin, of Norman, OK; and Randall Navarro and wife, Stephanie Tanny, of Centennial, CO; grandchildren, November and Rose Navarro, and Asher, Aedyn, and Ainsley Navarro; brother, Anastacio Navarro of Thorton, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Clara Navarro.
